Kansas City Royals 

The Royals managed a 6-5 win in the Thursday opener of this set, then fell 11-3 on Friday. In game three Kansas City had 11 hits in a 9-4 victory. Starter Jordan Lyles finished with 6.0 innings, four earned, eight hits and a walk. 

Daniel Lynch will make the start for the Royals on Sunday. In his five starts this year Lynch is 1-3 with a 4.45 ERA and 22 Ks in 30.1 innings. Lynch is 9-22 with a 5.20 ERA in 47 career starts. 

Tampa Bay Rays 

Over on the Rays’ side, they posted a whopping 17 team hits (and gave up 11) in the Friday victory. On Saturday Tampa Bay blew a 4-0 lead in the loss. Starter Yonny Chirinos posted eight earned on 5.1 innings, nine hits and two walks. 

For the starter job Sunday, Tampa Bay will go with Tyler Glasnow. In his five starts this year Glasnow is 2-1 with a 4.97 ERA and 33 Ks in 25.1 innings. Glasnow is 22-21 with a 4.06 ERA in 111 career games (72 starts). 

The Royals are 17-35 in their last 52 on turf and 21-46 in their last 67 versus the AL East. KC is 21-56 in their last 77 road games. 

Meanwhile, the Rays are 4-1 in their last five in game four of a series and 9-3 in their last 12 Sunday games. Tampa Bay is 36-15 in their last 51 on turf.

I’ll stick with the Rays here. Probably not touching it, though. Glasnow needs a bounce-back start, though. In his last outing versus Baltimore on June 20, Glasnow posted 4.1 innings with six earned on six hits and two walks. Glasnow had 11.1 combined innings with four earned over his previous pair, though. On Saturday Tampa Bay got a rough outing from Chirinos, but I think they’ll bounce back in the finale.
