The Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers meet Wednesday in MLB action from Globe Life Field. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Texas Rangers vs Houston Astros Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Houston Astros will send out Yusei Kikuchi for the start here and Kikuchi is 4-9 with a 4.67 ERA and 141 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against the Rangers, Kikuchi is 3-1 with a 5.60 ERA and 21 strikeouts. The Texas Rangers did not have a starting pitcher announced at the time that this article was posted.

Houston Astros Recap

The Houston Astros come into this one looking to add on to their 4-2 win over the Rangers on Tuesday to even the series up at one win apiece. The win gives the Astros a chance to bounce back from back-to-back series losses against the Rays and Pirates over the last week and a half.

Astros Trying To Retake AL West Lead

Jose Altuve has 137 hits and a .303 batting average with 14 home runs, 47 RBIs and 21 doubles while Yordan Alvarez also has 21 homers with 57 RBIs and 26 doubles. Altuve has the Astros’ team lead with 15 stolen bases so far this season. Jeremy Pena also has 115 hits and a .271 batting average as well as 12 stolen bases of his own this season. Alex Bregman’s added 15 homers and 52 RBIs also.

Why the Houston Astros will win

  • The Rangers have lost each of their last 11 games as home underdogs against AL West opponents following a home loss.
  • The Astros have won 12 of their last 13 games at Globe Life Field following a road win.
  • The road team has covered the run line in each of the Astros’ last 10 games.
  • The Rangers have failed to cover the run line in each of their last nine day games following a loss.

Texas Rangers Recap

The Texas Rangers come into this game looking to bounce back after their loss to the Astros in Tuesday’s clash. The loss put the Rangers at risk of a fourth straight series loss after falling short against the Red Sox, Cardinals and Blue Jays over the last two weeks.

Rangers Trying To Maintain Footing In Crucial Rubber Match

Marcus Semien leads the Rangers with 110 hits along with 20 doubles, 16 home runs and 56 RBIs while Adolis Garcia has 18 home runs and 54 RBIs with 17 doubles as well as 9 stolen bases. Jonah Heim has 10 homers and 46 RBIs and Josh Smith also has a team-high 20 doubles. Corey Seager also has 24 home runs with 57 RBIs of his own this season.

Why the Texas Rangers will win

  • The Rangers have won each of their last nine Wednesday games as underdogs against American League opponents.
  • The Astros have lost five of their last six games as road favorites against AL West opponents following a win.
  • The Rangers have covered the run line in each of their last nine Wednesday games as underdogs against American League opponents.
  • The Astros have failed to cover the run line in seven of their last eight games as favorites.

Texas Rangers vs Houston Astros Prediction

I’m backing the Rangers here. I liked the Astros in the first two games of this series, but bottom line is that the rubber match is must win for Texas to at least come out with a positive from this series and Yusei Kikuchi really struggled in his last start as a Blue Jay against these same Rangers. Texas has been really good against left-handed pitching as of late, and I think the Rangers get the job done here to bounce back and win the set. Give me Texas.
