The New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers meet on Tuesday in MLB action from Comerica Park. This will be the second installment in a three-game series. Here’s a Tigers vs Yankees prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Tigers vs Yankees pick.
New York Yankees Betting Preview
New York did great in their opening series versus the Milwaukee Brewers, bagging a sweep with wins 4-2, 20-9 and 12-3. The second set versus the Arizona Diamondbacks didn’t go so well, though, as the Yankees fell 7-5 and 4-3 before fending off the sweep on a 9-7 win in game three. New York managed wins 9-4 Friday and 10-4 in game two during their weekend set versus the Pittsburgh Pirates. On Sunday, in the finale, the Yankees posted three runs in the ninth inning to recover from a 4-1 deficit and send the game to extras. New York eventually lost 5-4 in 11 innings, though. Starter Will Warren posted 4.0 four earned innings on six hits and a walk. Trent Grisham was the only batter with multiple hits, going 2-for-5 with two RBI.
On Monday, in the opener versus the Tigers, the Yankees coughed up three runs in the third inning on the way to a 6-2 defeat. Paul Goldschmidt went 2-for-4, while Aaron Judge collected the team’s only RBI. Cody Bellinger and Trent Grisham each had a hit and a run in the loss.
As the starting pitcher for Tuesday’s game two, New York is sending out Carlos Carrasco. Over his two starts so far this year, Carrasco is 1-0 with a 7.36 ERA and seven Ks in 7.1 innings. Carrasco is 111-103 with a 4.16 ERA in 326 career games (278 starts).
Detroit Tigers Betting Preview
Over on the Tigers’ side, they opened up their season with a tough matchup versus the champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Detroit lost all three of those games 5-4, 8-5, and 7-3. The Tigers were able to beat the Seattle Mariners 9-6 and 4-1 in the first two games of their next set before a 3-2 loss. Over the weekend versus the White Sox, the Tigers were on 7-4 and 7-2 in the first two games. On Sunday, in the finale, Detroit put up three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to complete a comeback from a 3-1 deficit and walk it off. Spencer Torkelson finished with two RBI, and starter Jackson Jobe lasted 5.0 frames with two earned on four hits and three walks.
On Monday, Detroit was out-hit 7-5 but still powered out the win. Andy Ibanez had a three-run shot, and Justyn-Henry Malloy added the other pair of RBI in the fifth. Starting pitcher Casey Mize went 6.0 innings with one earned on four hits and three walks.
In the starter slot for the Tuesday game, the Tigers will go with Tarik Skubal. This year over his two starts, Skubal is 0-2 with a 5.91 ERA and 10 Ks in 10.2 innings. Skubal is 41-33 in his career with a 3.42 ERA in 108 games (105 starts).

Tigers vs Yankees Prediction
I’ll lean toward the Yankees. This one’s going to depend on the starting pitching, though. Neither guy has done very well so far this year. Carrasco has given up six earned runs in 7.1 innings on 10 hits and two walks. As for Skubal, he’s got a pair of losses with seven earned in 10.2 innings on 12 hits and four walks. Both guys are capable of better things, though, so if each plays to his capabilities, then we’ll have a solid starter matchup on our hands.
On Monday, New York posted a pretty rough effort on both sides of the ball. The offense provided seven team hits with three walks and could only score a couple of runs. Starter Carlos Rodon lasted 6.0 innings but also gave up five earned on four hits and three walks with eight strikeouts. Needless to say, the Yankees need a good bounce-back effort in game two.
