The New York Yankees and the Detroit Tigers meet on Wednesday in MLB action from Comerica Park. This will be the final installment in a three-game series. Here’s a Tigers vs Yankees prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Tigers vs Yankees pick.

New York Yankees Betting Preview

The Yankees opened things up this year with a very nice effort versus the Milwaukee Brewers. New York took a sweep in that set 4-2, 20-9 and 12-3. The next series versus the Arizona Diamondbacks wasn’t so great, though, as the Yankees took losses 7-5 and 4-3 before staving off the sweep with a 9-7 win in the finale. New York got back to it with a series win versus the Pirates over the weekend, taking victories 9-4 and 10-4 before a 5-4 Sunday loss in extras. On Monday, in the opener of the matchup with the Tigers, New York coughed up three runs in the third inning and another pair in the fifth on the way to a 6-2 loss. Aaron Judge had the lone RBI, and starter Carlos Rodon went 6.0 innings with five earned on four hits and three walks.

In the Tuesday game two, the Yankees gave up three runs in the fourth inning along the way to a 5-0 shutout loss. Paul Goldschmidt led the offense on three hits, while Aaron Judge went 2-for-4. Carlos Carrasco lasted 4.1 innings with four earned in the start.

In the starter slot for the Wednesday finale, the Yankees will send out Max Fried. This year, in his two starts so far, Fried is 1-0 with a 2.61 ERA. Over his career in the MLB, Fried is 74-36 with a 3.07 ERA in 170 games (153 starts).

Detroit Tigers Betting Preview

Over on the Detroit side, they opened the 2025 season with a difficult matchup versus the Los Angeles Dodgers and fell accordingly 5-4, 8-5, and 7-3 for a sweep. The Tigers won their first series versus the Seattle Mariners, taking victories 9-6 and 4-1, ahead of a 3-2 defeat in the finale. Over the weekend, the Tigers were able to sweep the Chicago White Sox, bagging wins 7-4, 7-2, and 4-3 in that one. On Monday, Detroit committed two errors and got out-hit 7-5, but still bagged the win. Andy Ibanez had three RBI with a homer, and Justyn-Henry Malloy added two more RBI. Casey Mize lasted 6.0 innings with one earned on four hits and three walks in the starting pitcher role.

In the Tuesday matchup, the Tigers bagged nine team hits in the win. Starter Tarik Skubal lasted 6.0 innings with no walks, four hits, and six Ks in a nice performance.

It’ll be Jack Flaherty in the starting pitcher slot for the Tigers in the finale. Flaherty has a pair of starts so far this year, going 1-0 with a 2.38 ERA and 10 Ks in 11.1 innings. Flaherty is 56-41 with a 3.62 ERA in 161 career games (155 starts) in total.

Tigers vs Yankees Prediction

I might take a stab at the Tigers here. Detroit should be in pretty good hands with Flaherty on the mound. He’s given up just three earned in 11.1 innings total over his first two starts, notching six hits and four walks with 12 strikeouts in that time. Flaherty is coming off 5.2 innings in a win over the White Sox on April 4. As for Fried, he should be solid here as well. Flaherty bagged a win over Pittsburgh in his last start (also on April 4), with 5.2 innings, one earned, six hits, and a walk in that one.

The Tigers got a great outing from Skubal on Tuesday. Brant Hurter did the rest with 3.0 clean frames, two hits, and one walk. Detroit has plenty of bullpen ammo left to contend with the Yankees’ hitters, so a sweep is certainly possible.
