The Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays meet Sunday in MLB action from Rogers Centre. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this game. Here’s a Toronto Blue Jays vs Texas Rangers Prediction.

Starting Pitching Matchup

The Texas Rangers will send out Jon Gray for the start here and Gray is 5-4 with a 3.73 ERA and 78 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gray is 2-0 with a 5.85 ERA and 21 strikeouts against Toronto. The Toronto Blue Jays will start Jose Berrios here and Berrios is 8-8 with a 4.08 ERA and 92 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against Texas, Berrios is 1-1 with a 6.23 ERA and 30 strikeouts.

Texas Rangers Recap

The Texas Rangers come into this one looking to salvage something from this series after ending up with a 7-3 loss to Toronto in Saturday’s matchup. The series loss wasn’t what the doctor ordered for a Rangers team who was trying to keep their playoff hopes alive and were trying to build on their four-game sweep of the White Sox earlier this week.

Rangers Looking To Crash Postseason Spots

Marcus Semien leads the Rangers with 103 hits along with 18 doubles, 15 home runs and 53 RBIs while Adolis Garcia has 18 home runs and 53 RBIs with 16 doubles as well as 9 stolen bases. Jonah Heim has 9 homers and 42 RBIs and Josh Smith also has a team-high 20 doubles. Corey Seager also has 19 home runs with 49 RBIs of his own this season.

Why the Texas Rangers will win

  • The favorites have won each of the Rangers’ last nine games.
  • The Blue Jays have lost six of their last seven games at Rogers Centre following a win.
  • The Blue Jays have failed to cover the run line in 11 of their last 12 games following a home win.
  • The Rangers have covered the run line in nine of their last 10 games against the Blue Jays.

Toronto Blue Jays Recap

The Toronto Blue Jays will look to complete the surprising sweep of the Rangers after picking up the win in Saturday’s matchup. The series win was a welcome sight for Toronto, who were sitting on back-to-back series losses after falling flat against the Rays and Tigers since the all-star break.

Blue Jays Now Sliding Into Spoiler Role

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. leads the Blue Jays with 120 hits including 22 doubles, 18 home runs and 62 RBIs along with a .301 batting average and a .373 OBP. Daulton Varsho’s chipped in 12 home runs and 43 RBIs in addition to 15 doubles. Davis Schneider has 17 doubles while George Springer has a team-high 12 stolen bases. Varsho also has a team-high 98 strikeouts and 9 stolen bases as well this season. Bo Bichette also has 16 doubles this season.

Why the Toronto Blue Jays will win

  • The Rangers have lost each of their last 10 road games against AL East opponents that held a losing record.
  • The home team has won each of the Rangers’ last seven games.
  • The Rangers have failed to cover the run line in each of their last 11 games as road favorites against AL East opponents following a road loss.
  • The Blue Jays have covered the run line in eight of their last nine games as underdogs.

Toronto Blue Jays vs Texas Rangers Prediction

I’m on the Blue Jays here. Texas just hasn’t looked like they’ve had it in this series and I just can’t get there with them in their current form. The Blue Jays have started to offload as we near the deadline, but that hasn’t stopped this team from competing and trying to win and I think they do enough to get the win to pull off the surprising sweep. Give me Toronto.
