The Miami Marlins and the Washington Nationals meet Saturday in MLB action from Nationals Park. This will be the third installment in a four-game series. Miami Marlins 

The Marlins scored three runs from a Jazz Chisholm homer in the fifth inning Thursday during the opener of this set, cruising to a 6-1 win on 13 team hits. In Friday’s game, Miami posted four runs in the top of the 11th inning in an 8-5 win. Both Chisholm and Garret Hampson had two RBI each. 

In the starter role for Miami on Saturday, the team didn’t initially announce a name. 

Washington Nationals 

Over on the Nationals’ side, they could only muster three team hits in the opener of this series. Jake Alu had one, as well as the lone run. On Friday Washington got home runs from CJ Abrams, Lane Thomas and Travis Blankenhorn in the losing effort. 

Trevor Williams will take the mound for the Nationals on Saturday. In his 26 starts so far Williams is 6-8 with a 4.82 ERA and 99 Ks in 130.2 innings. In his last seven starts Williams is 1-3 with a 5.84 ERA and 24 earned in 37.0 innings.

I’m likely going to stay with the Nationals in this one. Williams had a rough game versus Oakland back on August 13 with 4.1 innings and five earned runs on six hits and two walks. In his two starts since then however, Williams is 1-1 with just two earned in 13.0 total innings on seven hits and five walks. He should be able to keep things close while he’s out there. The Nationals held fast in Friday’s matchup but ultimately couldn’t match the Marlins’ 11th-inning flurry. Washington can slow the bleeding in this series, but it’s going to take a big effort from both sides.
