The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox meet in an AL Central division matchup in MLB action from Guaranteed Rate Field on Wednesday. Let’s dive into the odds, starting pitching matchup, history and make a prediction for this game.

Odds

Chicago is a -140 home favorite while Minnesota is a +120 road underdog. The total for this game is set at 8 runs.

Starting Pitching Matchup

Minnesota will send Louie Varland to the mound here and he is 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA and 8 strikeouts this season. Chicago will start Dylan Cease, who is 2-1 with a 4.15 ERA and 37 strikeouts this season.

Matchup History

Chicago’s 3-2 win on Wednesday snapped Minnesota’s two-game head-to-head win streak in this matchup.

Trends

Minnesota is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall and 17-36 in their last 53 road games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 game two matchups. Chicago is 7-21 in their last 28 games overall and 1-4 in their last 5 home games while the over is 11-3-1 in their last 15 home games.

Pick

I’m backing the White Sox here. Not often I’ll do it, especially after the Twins got me on Tuesday, but the White Sox need to start picking up confidence wins after a brutal start, and Dylan Cease is going to be the best shot the White Sox have at a win pretty much any time he takes the mound. Louie Varland is a decent arm, but he’s a fringe starter and going up against Chicago’s staff ace here. I don’t see Varland matching zeroes and I think the White Sox get it done.
