The Toronto Blue Jays and the New York Yankees meet Sunday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. This will be the finale in a three-game weekend series. Toronto took a win in the opener, then in game two the Yankees eked out a victory to even it up. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays scored twice in three different innings Friday on the way to a 6-1 victory. On Saturday in game two, Toronto came back from a 2-0 deficit in the ninth inning but couldn’t hang on in a 3-2 defeat. Starter Alek Manoah put up 7.0 clean frames with one walk and two hits.

For the starter job in the Sunday finale, the Jays will send out Kevin Gausman. In his four starts so far Gausman is 1-2 with a 3.65 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 24.2 innings. Gausman is 77-84 in his career with a 3.93 ERA in 271 games (232 starts).

New York Yankees

Over on the Yankees’ side, they couldn’t find much offensive success Friday on five team hits. In the Saturday game New York got the game-winning walk-off RBI single from DJ LeMahieu. Gerrit Cole lasted 5.2 innings in the start with four hits and two walks.

It’ll be Clarke Schmidt in the starting role for the Yankees on Sunday. Over his four starts this year Schmidt is 0-1 with an 8.79 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 14.1 innings. Schmidt is 5-7 with a 4.57 career ERA in 38 games (nine starts).

The Blue Jays are 37-15 in their last 52 versus a right-handed starter and the over is 6-0 in their last six Sunday games. The over is 25-12-1 in Toronto’s last 38 in game three of a series.

Meanwhile, the Yankees are 6-0 in their last six in game three of a series and 8-2 in their last 10 Sunday games. New York is 64-30 in the last 94 at home.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll try Toronto in this one. The Jays will need to get a better result from Gausman than his last outing, though. In a road matchup versus Houston on April 17, Gausman notched seven earned on seven hits and two walks over 4.2 innings during a loss. In the Saturday game two, the Blue Jays gave up all three runs in the final two frames after a really nice start from Manoah. Toronto is going to need some consistent bats to go along with Gausman here, but if all goes well I think the Jays will have a decent shot at winning the series.

Andrew's Free Pick: Toronto Blue Jays -147
