The San Francisco Giants and the New York Yankees meet Saturday in MLB action from Yankee Stadium. This will be the second installment in a three-game weekend series. Here’s a Yankees vs Giants prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Yankees vs Giants pick.
San Francisco Giants Betting Preview
The Giants’ season began with a matchup versus the Cincinnati Reds. San Francisco took two of three in that one for a series victory, then swept the Houston Astros in the next set. San Francisco kept it going with three straight wins over the Seattle Mariners, but then suffered their first series loss of the year against the Cincinnati Reds. The Giants fell 2-0 and 1-0 before salvaging an 8-6 win on Wednesday to prevent getting swept themselves. In that victory over Cincinnati, the Giants gave up five runs in the third and faced a 6-1 deficit at one point but clawed back for the walk-off victory in 10 innings.
On Friday in the opener versus the Yankees, San Francisco bagged five runs in the first inning along the way to a 9-1 blowout win. The game was called off after just six innings due to bad weather. Starter Robbie Ray lasted 4.0 innings with one earned run on two hits and four walks along with seven strikeouts.
In the Saturday game two starting pitcher job, the Giants will send out Jordan Hicks. This year Hicks is 1-0 with a 2.38 ERA in his two starts and 11.1 innings total. Hicks is 16-28 with a 3.88 ERA in 243 career games (30 starts). He’s also got 33 saves to his credit in that time.
New York Yankees Betting Preview
Over on the Yankees’ side, they opened up their year with an impressive sweep over the Milwaukee Brewers, scoring 36 runs in three games. New York was nearly swept by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the next set, losing two of three. In their matchup versus the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Yankees won two of three themselves, then nearly got swept by the Tigers in the next series. The lone win in that set was a 4-3 result on Wednesday.
In the Friday game the Yankees put up just two hits in the shortened loss. Marcus Stroman put up five earned runs in just 0.2 innings on four hits and three walks as starting pitcher.
It’ll be Will Warren in the starting pitcher role for the Yankees on Saturday. This year over his two starts Warren has a 6.00 ERA without a decision. He’s got nine Ks in 9.0 innings. Over his career Warren is 0-3 with a 9.09 ERA in eight games (seven starts).

Yankees vs Giants Prediction
I’m staying with the Giants. Hicks had a nice debut this season, notching a victory over the Astros on March 31 with 6.0 clean frames, one hit and two walks. Start number two wasn’t as smooth: a no-decision versus the Seattle Mariners with 5.1 innings, three earned, six hits and a walk. As for Warren, he’s coming off a rough outing in a no-decision versus Pittsburgh on April 6. In that one Warren put up four earned runs on six hits and a walk in 4.0 innings total. San Francisco should be able to notch a few runs in the early-going Saturday if all goes well.
On Friday the Giants got right to work in the first inning and asserted their dominance on the road. San Francisco should be in a nice position to win the series here as the Yankees wilt in cold weather among myriad issues on both sides of the ball.
