The Dallas Mavericks and Miami Heat square off on Tuesday night from American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
Head to head, the Heat are 8-2-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Dallas while the road team is 18-6-2 ATS in the last 26 meetings. The Mavericks are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 3 or more days rest, but just 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games vs. a team with a winning road record. The Heat on the other hand are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning S.U. record, but just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games playing on 3 or more days rest.

To put it bluntly, the Miami Heat has dominated the Dallas Mavericks since they were upset in the NBA finals back in 2011. The Mavs have covered the spread in the last two meetings, but Miami has won five straight by an average of 12.6 points per game since going down in the NBA finals. To be fair, three of those meetings were back in South Beach, having said that, their two games in Dallas resulted in wins of 11 and 15 points. It’s fair to say that Miami plays with a little extra motivation when they come up against the Mavs.
As far as current form goes, the Miami Heat are on the tail end of their current six-game road trip, which was interrupted by the All-Star break of course, having gone 3-1 so far after Lebron James nailed the game-winning three-pointer to give his team a thrilling 111-110 win over Golden State last Wednesday. Dallas also went into the break in fine form, having defeated the Indiana Pacers on their home court in their last outing, a feat that only two other teams have accomplished so far this season. The Mavs come into tonight’s showdown against Miami having won six of their last seven overall.
From a betting stand point, the Mavs have been much better than the Heat this season. Having said that, Dallas is only 12-14 against the spread at home this season, compared to 19-9 ATS on the road. On the flipside, Miami is just 8-16 ATS at home, but they have covered the spread in 14 of their 27 road games to date. I still expect the Heat to treat this game differently to most others and while I wouldn't bet on them, I think they come away with the win and cover tonight...
