The Miami Heat invade the Staples Center to do battle with the Los Angeles Clippers on Thursday night.

The Miami Heat have been one of the form teams of the league as they’ve won seven of their first 11 games, but they will be hoping to avoid a third straight loss in this one after falling just short to the Lakers in a 120-117 overtime road loss last night. Bam Adebayo led the team with 28 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and six steals, Tyler Herro added 27 points on 11 of 22 shooting off the bench while Kyle Lowry tallied 18 points with seven rebounds and 11 assists. As a team, the Heat shot 41 percent from the field and 10 of 37 from the 3-point line as they led for most of the game, before coming up just short as they managed just five points in overtime. Duncan Robinson had a rough night as he scored just 12 points on four of 16 shooting, while Jimmy Butler scored seven points in 12 minutes of action, before leaving the game with an ankle injury which puts him in doubt for Thursday.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers endured a rough start to the season, but they’ve come to life with five wins on the trot after taking down the Trailblazers in a 117-109 home win on Tuesday. Paul George led the team with 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, Reggie Jackson added 23 points with six assists while Nicolas Batum chipped in with 22 points on seven of nine shooting. As a team, the Clippers shot 51 percent from the field and 16 of 30 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 33 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before pouring in 61 points in the second half to escape with the narrow win as the Trailblazers hung around till the end. Serge Ibaka played just six minutes as he is clearly on a minutes restriction, while Isaiah Hartenstein provided the spark off the bench with 14 points on six of seven shooting in just 17 minutes of action.

Looking at the betting trends, the Heat are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 road games, 5-0 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Clippers are 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games against a team with a winning record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.

Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall, the Heat are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Heat are 4-9 ATS in the last 13 meetings in Los Angeles.

The Heat haven’t been at their best lately as they’ve lost three of their past four games and things won’t get any easier with Butler going down last night with an ankle injury. The Clippers have been one of the hottest teams in the league and their confidence will be sky-high after outlasting the Trailblazers in a hard-fought home win on Tuesday. The Heat are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall and given the form of the Clippers, I think that trend continues here as George leads the Clippers to their sixth straight victory.
