The Los Angeles Clippers play host to the Washington Wizards at the Staples Center on Tuesday night.

The Washington Wizards have come to life with six wins in their last eight games and they will be looking to build on their current five-game win streak after outlasting the Lakers in a 127-124 overtime win last night. Bradley Beal led the team with 33 points, seven rebounds and six assists, Russell Westbrook added 32 points with 14 rebounds and nine assists while Rui Hachimura chipped in with 15 points on six of eight shooting. As a team, the Wizards shot 49 percent from the field and nine of 25 from the 3-point line as they rallied back from an early 17-point deficit, before pulling away in the overtime period where Beal and Westbrook scored all of the teams’ 12 points.

Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have been in great form as they’ve won five of their past seven games, but they will be looking to bounce back in a hurry after getting stopped in their tracks by the Nets in a 112-108 home loss on Sunday. Paul George led the team with 34 points and seven assists on 12 of 19 shooting, Kawhi Leonard added 29 points with 13 rebounds and three assists while Ivica Zubac chipped in with 13 points on six of seven shooting. As a team, the Clippers shot 46 percent from the field and 15 of 35 from the 3-point line as they fell behind by 15 points, before seeing their late rally come up short. The Clippers allowed 60 points in the paint and committed 17 turnovers.

Looking at the betting trends, the Wizards are 21-6 ATS in their last 27 games playing on zero days’ rest and 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record. The Clippers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 5-2 ATS in the last seven games against a team below .400.

The Wizards have suddenly become one of the hottest teams in the league and they will be full of confidence after last night’s impressive overtime win over the red-hot Lakers, but I’m going to be very surprised if they can replicate that performance against a consistent Clippers team who are coming off a tough loss. I know the Wizards have been in fine form and are capable of beating anyone on their day, but they are just 1-6 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and I think that trend continues as the Clippers bounce back into form at home.
