The Indiana Pacers pay a visit to the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Sunday night.
The Indiana Pacers have been in a slump as they’ve lost six of their last eight games overall, but they will be feeling much better after putting a halt to a four-game skid with a 121-117 win over the Thunder on Friday. TJ McConnell led the team with 21 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, Andrew Nembhard added 18 points with six assists while Bennedict Mathurin chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Pacers shot 45 percent from the field and 12 of 41 from the 3-point line as they went back and forth with the pesky Thunder in a close contest, until late in the fourth quarter where they won behind their defense, holding the Thunder to just six points in the final 4:35 to escape with the narrow victory.
Meanwhile, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their last nine games overall, but they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid in this one after getting routed by the Knicks in a 130-116 loss on Friday. Donovan Mitchell got off to a quick start and led the way with 42 points on 16 of 23 shooting, Darius Garland added 20 points with nine assists while Caris LeVert chipped in with 15 points and seven assists. As a team, the Cavaliers shot 51 percent from the field and 17 of 37 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 47 points in the first quarter, only to get blown out in the end as they just had no answer for the Knicks’ Jalen Brunson who scorched them for 33 points in the first half and 48 points for the game.
Looking at the betting trends, the Pacers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. The Cavaliers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against a team with a losing record and 8-1-2 ATS in their last 11 games following a loss of more than 10 points.
Head to head, the over is 4-1 in the last five meetings overall, the Pacers are 1-4-3 ATS in the last eight meetings in Cleveland and the Pacers are 2-5-2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall.
The Pacers are going to be shorthanded again as Tyrese Haliburton has been ruled out and Myles Turner is questionable, while the Cavaliers are keeping an eye on Jarrett Allen who is questionable for this one. The Pacers have gone off the boil lately, but they were close to taking down the Thunder in their last outing, but the more reliable team has definitely been the Cavaliers who were on fire before they got snuffed by the Knicks in their last outing. The Pacers are only 2-5-2 ATS in the last nine meetings overall, so I will go with the Cavaliers to bounce back with a win and cover at home.
