The Dallas Mavericks play host to the New York Knicks at the American Airlines Center on Wednesday night.
The New York Knicks have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost 11 of their past 14 games overall, but they will be eager to build on their current two-game win streak after blowing past the Kings in a 131-115 road win on Monday. Julius Randle drained eight 3-pointers to lead the team with 46 points and 10 rebounds, RJ Barrett added 29 points with eight rebounds and six assists while Immanuel Quickley chipped in with 27 points, six rebounds and four assists off the bench. As a team, the Knicks shot 51 percent from the field and 18 of 42 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and managed just 17 points in the first quarter to trail by 20 points in the blink of an eye, but they stayed in the contest and took over in the second half where they exploded for a season-high 83 points to beat the Kings easily in the end.
Meanwhile, the Dallas Mavericks have been in red-hot form as they’ve won 11 of their last 13 games overall and they will be aiming for a sixth straight victory after outlasting the Jazz in a 111-103 home win on Monday. Luka Doncic led the team with 35 points, 16 rebounds and seven assists, Spencer Dinwiddie added 23 points while Dorian Finney-Smith chipped in with 21 points. As a team, the Mavericks shot 44 percent from the field and 17 of 46 from the 3-point line as they got off to a quick start and outpaced the Jazz to lead by as many as 20 points in this one, which proved to be just enough as the Jazz rallied to within six points late in the fourth quarter.
Looking at the betting trends, the Knicks are 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games against a team above .600, 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a win of more than 10 points and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The Mavericks are 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games and 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight games overall.
Head to head, the under is 10-2 in the last 12 meetings overall, the Knicks are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Knicks are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in Dallas.
The Knicks were in terrible form before winning their last two games, so they will be eager to come out firing in this one, but they’re going to be shorthanded as Obi Toppin, Nerlens Noel and Kemba Walker are all out while Mitchell Robinson is listed as questionable. The Mavericks have quietly been one of the hottest teams in the league for a while now and their confidence will be sky-high after taking down the Jazz in their last outing. The Knicks have been better in their last two games, but not enough to stop me from taking the Mavericks in this spot.
