The Denver Nuggets play host to the Golden State Warriors at the Ball Arena on Sunday night.
The Golden State Warriors have been heating up lately as they’ve reeled off five wins in their past six outings and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after beating the Spurs in a 130-115 home win on Friday. Stephen Curry drained seven 3-pointers to lead the team with 33 points, Klay Thompson added 31 points while Jordan Poole provided the spark off the bench with 27 points and six assists off the bench. As a team, the Warriors shot 50 percent from the field and 21 of 49 from the 3-point line as they wrestled with the pesky Spurs in a close contest, until the fourth quarter where they exploded for 43 points to pull away and make it look easy in the end.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after coming up short against the Suns in a 100-93 road loss on Friday. Aaron Gordon led the way with 26 points, eight rebounds and six assists, Bruce Brown added 16 points while Reggie Jackson chipped in with 13 points. As a team, the Nuggets shot just 40 percent from the field and six of 26 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense from the start without Nikola Jokic in the lineup and they were always fighting an uphill battle after falling behind by as many as 27 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Warriors are 16-37-1 ATS in their last 54 road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a win. The Nuggets are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 19-9 ATS in their last 28 games against a team with a winning record and 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall and the Warriors are 0-4 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Warriors are still missing Andrew Wiggins who is out for personal reasons, while the Nuggets are keeping eyes on Nikola Jokic who is listed as questionable once again. This is definitely a game where you want to check the lineups before tipoff, but assuming that Jokic is out again, I’ll go with the Warriors despite their road troubles.
