The Minnesota Timberwolves invade the Ball Arena to take on the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after having their two-game win streak snapped by the Jazz in a 126-125 loss on Monday. Anthony Edwards led the team with 29 points and five assists, D’Angelo Russell added 21 points with seven assists while Kyle Anderson racked up a triple-double of 13 points with 11 rebounds and 10 assists. As a team, the Timberwolves shot 45 percent from the field and 18 of 41 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control after pouring in 37 points in the third quarter to build an 11-point lead, but they couldn’t put the Jazz away and got burned by 39 points in the fourth quarter to end up painfully short in the end.
Meanwhile, the Denver Nuggets have been the hottest team in the league as they’ve won 17 of their last 20 games overall and they will be eager to build on their seven-game win streak after beating the Trail Blazers in a 122-113 home win last night. Nikola Jokic led the team with a triple-double of 36 points with 12 rebounds and 10 assists, Michael Porter Jr. added 23 points on nine of 13 shooting while Jamal Murray tallied 17 points with seven assists. As a team, the Nuggets shot 50 percent from the field and 11 of 32 from the 3-point line as they hit the ground running and poured in 73 points in the first half to take a six-point lead into halftime, before making another run in the third quarter to push the margin out to 20 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games against a team above .600. The Nuggets are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five home games against a team with a losing road record and 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall.
Head to head, the over is 4-0 in the last four meetings overall, the Timberwolves are 23-6 ATS in the last 29 meetings in Denver and the Timberwolves are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings overall.
The Timberwolves could be shorthanded again as Taurean Prince, Anthony Edwards and Rudy Gobert are all questionable, while the Nuggets are still missing Collin Gillespie and Peyton Watson. The Timberwolves were building some good momentum before they ran into the Jazz in a tough loss on Monday, but it’s going to be tough keep up with the red-hot Nuggets if they’re missing Edwards or Gobert who would have major roles in this matchup. The Nuggets have been just so consistent this season, especially at the Ball Arena as they are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games. With that being said, I’ll lean towards the Nuggets to keep the good times rolling with a win and cover here.
