The Dallas Mavericks have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last seven games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting stopped by the Timberwolves in a 118-110 road defeat on Thursday. Tim Hardaway Jr. led the team with 32 points on 11 of 19 shooting, Jaden Hardy added 17 points while Derrick Jones Jr chipped in with 15 points, nine rebounds and three steals. As a team, the Mavericks shot 44 percent from the field and 14 of 33 from the 3-point line, but they were always fighting an uphill battle after allowing the Timberwolves to explode for 37 points in the first quarter.

Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors have been searching for consistency as they’ve split their last 10 games and they will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting routed by the shorthanded Heat in a 114-102 loss on Thursday. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson led the team with 13 points and five assists each, Andrew Wiggins added 11 points while Jonathan Kuminga and Dario Saric scored 10 points each. As a team, the Warriors shot just 42 percent from the field and eight of 33 from the 3-point line as they struggled against the Heat’s fiesty defense and trailed in this one by as many as 22 points before they made a late run to keep the final scores respectable. Curry had a night to forget as he shot just three of 15 from the field and two of eight from the 3-point line.

The Mavericks are still shorthanded with Kyrie Irving out and they have Luka Doncic listed as questionable, while the Warriors are keeping an eye on Kevon Looney who is questionable due to an illness. This is definitely a game where you want to check the lineups before tipoff given how important Doncic is to the Mavericks, but as it stands, I’m more comfortable siding with the Warriors to get back in the win column behind a bounce-back performance from Curry.
