The Houston Rockets play host to the Charlotte Hornets at the Toyota Center on Wednesday night.

The Charlotte Hornets will be hoping to avoid a third straight defeat after getting thrashed by the Nets in a 133-121 loss on Monday. Terry Rozier led the team with 23 points and nine assists on 10 of 19 shooting, Mike Williams added 18 points while PJ Washington and Gordon Hayward scored 15 points each. As a team, the Hornets shot 49 percent from the field and eight of 31 from the 3-point line, but this game was over before it really began as the Hornets were already down by 19 points heading into the second quarter.

Meanwhile, the Houston Rockets have yet to win a game so far and they will be hoping to snap a three-game slide after getting beaten by the Warriors in a 106-95 loss on Sunday. Jalen Green led the team with 21 points, Alperen Sengun added 19 points and seven assists while Jabari Smith Jr. chipped in with 14 points, eight rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Rockets shot just 37 percent from the field and nine of 33 from the 3-point line which was enough to hang with the Warriors for most of the contest, but they couldn’t find their offense in the fourth quarter and it’s hard not to point the finger at Fred VanVleet who finished with eight points on two for 13 shooting.

The Hornets have yet to show any improvement this season and their confidence took another hit after getting embarrassed by the Nets on Monday. You could say the same about the Rockets who have yet to win a game this season, but they were right there in the contest with the Warriors and I think they can get over the hump in this one. This is a game I’d rather stay away from, but if I had to choose, I’d take the Rockets at home in this spot.
