The Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Clippers collide at the Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday night.
The Denver Nuggets have been in fine form as they’ve won five of their past seven games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after outlasting the Thunder in a 99-95 road win on Sunday. Nikola Jokic led the team with 22 points, 18 rebounds and six assists, Austin Rivers drained six 3-pointers on his way to 22 points off the bench while Will Barton chipped in with 14 points. As a team, the Nuggets didn’t have the best game as they shot just 41 percent from the field and 13 of 36 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 18-point lead, before Jokic and Barton each scored a pair of free throws to allow the Nuggets to escape with the narrow win.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have been in a rut lately as they’ve lost six of their past nine games overall, but they will be hoping to build some momentum after snapping a three-game skid with a 106-93 home win over the Hawks on Sunday. Amir Coffey led the team with 21 points on eight of 12 shooting, Serge Ibaka added 16 points on seven of eight shooting off the bench while Marcus Morris chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Clippers shot 47 percent from the field and 12 of 33 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 31 points in the first quarter, before clamping down defensively in the second half where they held the Hawks to just 40 points to earn the much-needed victory. Brandon Boston Jr. had a night to forget as he finished with just two points on zero of six shooting, but Eric Bledsoe provided the spark with 12 points and seven assists on six of nine shooting off the bench.
Looking at the betting trends, the Nuggets are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a win and 7-17 ATS in their last 24 road games against a team with a winning home record. The Clippers are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games, 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team with a winning record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games playing on one days’ rest.
Head to head, the under is 45-19-2 in the last 66 meetings overall, the Nuggets are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Nuggets are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Los Angeles.
The Denver Nuggets will again be without Will Barton and Rodney McGruder, while the Clippers are still missing Isaiah Hartenstein, Luke Kennard and Justise Winslow. This should be another close one, but with the Clippers having to rely on role players like Coffey and Morris to carry the bulk of their offense with Paul George still out, I’m more comfortable taking the Nuggets to get the win behind a near triple-double from Jokic.
