The Minnesota Timberwolves invade the STAPLES Center to battle the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night.
The Minnesota Timberwolves won their first two games of the season, but they are now looking to bounce back after getting blown out by the Lakers in a 127-91 road loss on Sunday. Anthony Edwards led the team in scoring with 15 points on six of 21 shooting off the bench, Naz Reid scored 11 points while Jake Layman chipped in with 10 points, but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Timberwolves shot just 36 percent from the field and a miserly six of 35 from the 3-point line as they just had no answer for the Lakers who set the tone with 40 points in the first quarter to take the early lead, before pushing it out to as many as 42 points.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers started their season with two impressive wins over the Lakers and the Nuggets, but their season came to a screeching halt on Sunday when they lost to the Mavericks in a 124-73 home defeat for their biggest loss in franchise history. Paul George scored 15 points, Serge Ibaka added 13 points while Ivica Zubac chipped in with 10 points, but no other player finished in double figures. As a team, the Clippers shot just 34 percent from the field and four of 33 from the 3-point line as they came out flat and quickly found themselves trailing by 77-27 going into halftime. The Clippers were a little shorthanded as Kawhi Leonard sat out with stitches in his face, but what was concerning was their lack of fight as a team in the second half.
Looking at the betting trends, the Timberwolves are 6-13 ATS in their last 19 games against a team with a winning record, 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 9-21 ATS in their last 30 games overall. The Clippers are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games, 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games following a loss of more than 10 points and 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following a double-digit loss at home.
Head to head, the over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings overall and the Timberwolves are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings in Los Angeles.
