The Detroit Pistons and Miami Heat meet Wednesday in NBA action at the Kaseya Center. Let’s preview this game and give out a pick and prediction.
Detroit Pistons Betting Preview
The Detroit Pistons won 17 games last year, haven’t made the playoffs since 2018-19, and now begin the Monty Williams era. Off rip, the Pistons are going to be better by getting a full season of Cade Cunningham. The question marks start beyond Cunningham, as there’s not many players you can feel completely confident about. Jaden Ivey looked great in his first season, and Bojan Bogdanovic is coming off one of his best seasons yet. Monte Morris and Joe Harris were added to provide some firepower in the back court. Still, the Pistons have a projected win total of 27.5 and that’s not a number you want to see with a franchise that’s experiencing a playoff drought.
Miami Heat Betting Preview
The Miami Heat are coming off their second final trip in the last 4 years and enter year 16 under coach Erik Spoelstra. The Heat weren’t able to land Damian Lillard, and they watched Gabe Vincent and Max Strus leave in free agency, so some are a bit down on them this season. However, the Heat made some underrated moves by snagging Thomas Bryant and Josh Richardson while drafting Jaime Jaquez, Jr. Guys like Tyler Herro and Nikola Jovic put in a lot of work this offseason and Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo is still one of the best duos in the league. Yes, a big three with Dame would’ve put the Heat over the top, but I wouldn’t sleep on this squad that seems to overachieve year after year.
Randy’s Pick
The Miami Heat are obviously the better, more talented team, and they need to take advantage of games like this if they’re going to be better in the standings than they were a year ago. However, the Heat also have this thing where they play down to their opponent, and bad losses last year were a trend. The Heat were in the play-in games last year because they didn’t pad wins against bad teams. The Heat should win, but 9 points is a lot. The Heat need to prove they can win games like this going away, which wasn’t the case last season. Give me the Pistons and the free buckets.
