The San Antonio Spurs and the Minnesota Timberwolves duke it out at the Target Center on Saturday night.

The San Antonio Spurs have been in fair shape as they’ve split their first eight games, but they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the red-hot Lakers in a 118-109 road win on Thursday. LaMarcus Aldridge led the team with 28 points on 11 of 18 shooting, DeMar DeRozan added 19 points with eight assists, Dejounte Murray scored 18 points while Rudy Gay chipped in with 15 points off the bench. As a team, the Spurs shot 46 percent from the field and 16 of 35 from the 3-point line as they jumped all over the Lakers early with 65 points in the first half, before relying on their defense down the stretch as they held the Lakers to just 20 points in the fourth quarter.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves started their season with a couple of wins, but they’re currently riding an ugly six-game skid after getting routed by the Trailblazers in a 135-117 road loss on Thursday. D’Angelo Russell led the team with 26 points on nine of 16 shooting, Anthony Edwards added 26 points off the bench, Naz Reid scored 13 points while Malik Beasley chipped in with 12 points on three of 13 shooting. As a team, the Timberwolves shot just 41 percent from the field and 14 of 41 from the 3-point line, but this game was over by halftime as the Timberwolves were never in the game after allowing the Trailblazers to explode for 47 points in the second quarter.

Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games against a team below .400, 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. The Timberwolves are 16-37-1 ATS in their last 54 home games, 1-5 ATS in their last six games as an underdog and 7-20 ATS in their last 27 games following a loss.

Head to head, the over is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall and the Spurs are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Minnesota.

Here we have two teams headed in opposite directions as the Spurs are starting to heat up while the Timberwolves have loss six in a item. The Spurs will be aiming for a third straight win, they are 7-3 ATS in the last 10 meetings in Minnesota and they will be full of confidence following their win over the Lakers. I’m taking the Spurs to continue their nice run with another win and cover here.
