Oklahoma City Thunder at Los Angeles Lakers
March 4, 2024 10:30 pm EDT

This evening, the NBA presents a matchup between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Los Angeles Lakers. Let’s take a look at this game from a DFS perspective.

Before we discuss my FanDuel player selections for tonight’s game, let’s briefly review the rules for the FanDuel single game contest.

Here are the FanDuel single game contest rules. You have $60,000 to utilize on five players from either team. However, one of those players will be designated as your team MVP. The MVP accumulates 2x times the standard FanDuel fantasy points value.

The remaining four players in your lineup will be the star, pro, and flex plays. The star player will receive 1.5x the standard fantasy points value. The pro player will accumulate 1.2x the standard fantasy points value.

The final two flex positions will receive the standard FanDuel points value. Having stated that, it is important for you to identify the correct player for your MVP position if you hope to win a FanDuel single game contest.

If you have additional questions regarding the rules for the single game contest, I highly recommend that you check out the FanDuel website for more details.

Here are my FanDuel Player Selections for tonight’s Thunder vs. Lakers matchup.

FanDuel Player Picks

MVP-Anthony Davis $16,500

How important is Anthony Davis to the Lakers offense? In his last five games played, Anthony Davis has averaged an impressive 25.4 points, 13.0 rebounds, 2.2 blocks and 1.4 steals a game. I think it’s fair to say that the Los Angeles offense runs through the Lakers center. Having stated that, I love his chances to perform at a high level versus this Oklahoma City Thunder team.

I noted in the rules section above how vital it is to select the correct MVP for your FanDuel lineup. In my opinion,  Anthony Davis fits the MVP narrative perfectly for this slate. Why? Quite simply, it’s because I think Davis posts the best individual statistics of any player on either team in tonight’s game. For the reasons just noted, Anthony Davis is my MVP for this contest.

Star-Shai Gilgeous-Alexander $17,000

Similar to Anthony Davis, Oklahoma City guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a pivotal piece of the Thunder’s offense. Let me provide some statistical data to better illustrate my point. In his last eight games played, Gilgeous-Alexander has averaged 33 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 6.3 assists a game.

In addition to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s outstanding numbers just mentioned, I like the fact that Gilgeous-Alexander will face a Lakers team that has struggled keeping opposing point guards in check. Let me be more specific. The Lakers are ranked a lowly 24th in total fantasy points allowed to the point guard position. That is not good.

Pro-Chet Holmgren $13,500

The talented rookie has played outstanding all season. Through 60 games played, Holmgren has averaged 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.6 blocks a game. It is noteworthy that Holmgren has played all 60 games. Holmgren’s reliability has been just as important as his production on the court. I think Holmgren will play rather well this evening. He certainly will be in my FanDuel lineup.

The flex plays I like this evening are: Austin Reaves $11,000: Rui Hachimura $9,500: Luguentz Dort $9,000.
