The Charlotte Hornets invade the Smoothie King Center to take on the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night.

The Charlotte Hornets have been in a real slump as they’ve lost seven of their last 10 games overall, but they will be feeling much better after snapping a four-game slide with a 115-109 win over the Pacers on Monday. Kelly Oubre Jr. led the team with 28 points on 10 of 17 shooting, Terry Rozier added 23 points with nine assists while Gordon Hayward chipped in with 22 points and five assists. As a team, the Hornets shot 45 percent from the field and 10 of 31 from the 3-point line as they got off to a terrible start and allowed 40 points in the first quarter to fall behind by 21 points in the blink of an eye, but they got to work and dominated the rest of the game to pull off the impressive comeback win to snap their losing streak.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Pelicans have been in decent shape as they’ve won four of their last seven games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after making light work of the Spurs in a 119-84 win on Tuesday. Brandon Ingram led the team with 32 points and seven assists on 10 of 16 shooting, Trey Murphy added 17 points, Jonas Valanciunas added 19 points with 15 rebounds while CJ McCollum chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Pelicans shot a healthy 55 percent from the field and 10 of 24 from the 3-point line as they dominated right from the start, holding the Spurs to just 16 points in the first quarter to open a double-digit lead and they just never took their foot off the gas until the final buzzer.

Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games against a team with a losing record and 7-2 ATS in their last nine games following a win. The Pelicans are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games following a win of more than 10 points, 1-5 ATS in their last six games following a win and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

Head to head, the over is 8-1 in the last nine meetings in New Orleans, the Hornets are 11-24-1 ATS in the last 36 meetings overall and the Hornets are 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings in New Orleans.

The Hornets are still missing LaMelo Ball, while the Pelicans are shorthanded again as Zion Williamson and Jose Alvarado are both out. The Hornets were able to snap out of their funk with a nice win over the Pacers on Monday, but I’ve been more impressed with the Pelicans’ recent play, especially Brandon Ingram who was on fire the team’s last win. You couldn’t back either side with too much confidence these days, but I like the Pelicans a little more in this spot.
