The San Antonio Spurs and the Philadelphia 76ers duke it out at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Monday night.
The San Antonio Spurs were stuttering before the season suspension, but they’ve hit the ground running since the restart as they are now aiming for a fourth straight victory after outlasting the Grizzlies in a 108-106 win last night. Dejounte Murray led the team with 21 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, Derrick White added 16 points with seven assists while DeMar DeRozan chipped in with 14 points and seven assists. As a team, the Spurs shot just 41 percent from the field and 12 of 29 from the 3-point line as they blew an 11-point fourth quarter lead, before escaping with the win on the back of a pair of clutch free thitems from DeRozan in the final second of the game.
Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers have lost four of their last six games and they will be hoping to bounce back after falling to the shorthanded Pacers in a 127-121 loss on Saturday. Joel Embiid led the team with 31 points, 21 rebounds and four assists, Tobias Harris added 30 points on 12 of 29 shooting while Ben Simmons added 19 points with 13 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the 76ers shot 49 percent from the field and nine of 25 from the 3-point line as they held the Pacers to just 20 points in the third quarter to take a 10-point lead, before they blew it in the fourth quarter where they allowed 46 points. With the disappointing loss, Philadelphia falls to 39-27 overall and 10-25 on the road.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 6-2 ATS in their last eight Monday games, 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games against a team with a winning home record and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall. The 76ers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record, 3-9 ATS in their last 12 games playing on one days rest and 4-0 ATS in their last four home games against a team with a losing road record.
Head to head, the under is 12-4 in the last 16 meetings overall, the Spurs are 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Spurs are 6-14 ATS in the last 20 meetings in Philadelphia.
The 76ers could do with a win to continue their climb up the rankings and they’ve already blown out the Spurs back in November. The Spurs are just 2-5 ATS in the last seven meetings and they will struggle trying to contain a healthy Embiid, so I’m sticking with the 76ers to bounce back in fine fashion with a much-needed win over the shorthanded Spurs here.
