The Dallas Mavericks travel to the Footprint Center to battle the Phoenix Suns on Christmas Day. Here’s a Mavs vs Suns Prediction.

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their last six games but they will be looking to build some momentum after blowing past the struggling Spurs in a 144-119 home win on Saturday. Luka Doncic led the team with a triple-double of 39 points with 12 rebounds and 10 assists on 13 of 27 shooting, Tim Hardaway Jr. added 23 points while Dante Exum chipped in with 20 points, seven rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Mavericks shot 52 percent from the field and a sizzling 23 of 45 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 40 points in the first quarter to take the early double digit lead before they put the game to bed with 45 points in the third quarter to lead by as many as 41 points.

Dallas Mavericks Team Facts

  • The Mavericks have lost each of their last seven games when playing with a rest disadvantage against the Suns.
  • The favorites have covered the spread in each of the Mavericks’ last six games.
  • Eight of the Mavericks’ last nine night games against the Suns following a home win have gone UNDER the total points line.

Phoenix Suns

Meanwhile, the Phoenix Suns have been in a real slump as they’ve lost eight of their last 11 games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after getting thrashed by the Kings in a 120-105 road loss on Friday. Kevin Durant led the team with 28 points on nine of 14 shooting, Devin Booker added 24 points with seven assists while Grayson Allen chipped in with 11 points. As a team, the Suns shot 44 percent from the field and a miserly five of 25 from the 3-point line as they struggled to keep pace with the Kings from the start and just kept falling into a deeper hole. In fact, the Suns didn’t really make any inroads until they trailed by 29 points before they made a late run to keep the final scores respectable.

Phoenix Suns Team Facts

  • The Suns have won each of their last seven games when playing with a rest advantage against the Mavericks.
  • The Suns have failed to cover the spread in each of their last six games as favorites.
  • Six of the Suns’ last seven home games against Western Conference opponents have gone OVER the total points line.

Mavs vs Suns Prediction

The Mavericks are still without Kyrie Irving and Josh Green, while the Suns are without Bradley Beal, Jusuf Nurkic and Yuta Watanabe. Neither team is coming into this one with any sort of form to speak of, but at least the Mavericks are coming into this one fresh off a win, albeit against the lowly Spurs. You couldn’t back either side with much confidence as there are just so many injuries on both squads, but there is a bit more to like about the Mavericks who represent decent value as the underdogs here. This should be a close one, so I’ll lean towards the Mavericks and any points I can get.
