The Dallas Mavericks invade the Moda Center to take on the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.
The Dallas Mavericks have been in great form as they’ve won 11 of their past 14 games overall, but they will be hoping to bounce back in this one after getting embarrassed by the Warriors in a 130-92 road loss last night. Luka Doncic led the team with 25 points, eight rebounds and three assists, Jalen Brunson added 11 points with five assists while Tim Hardaway Jr. chipped in with 10 points off the bench before leaving with a knee injury. As a team, the Mavericks shot a miserly 35 percent from the field and 10 of 40 from the 3-point line as they struggled to find their offense and scored just 20 points in the first quarter to fall behind by 12 points at halftime and things only got worse in the fourth quarter where they were outscored by 33-14 to make it a complete blowout. Kristaps Porzingis had a night to forget as he scored just nine points on four of 15 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers have been in fine form as they’ve won six of their past nine games, but they will be hoping to bounce back after last night’s 109-107 loss to the Timberwolves. Nassir Little and Jusuf Nurkic led the team with 20 points each, Anfernee Simons added 17 points with seven assists while CJ McCollum chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot just 39 percent from the field and 16 of 41 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control after pouring in 34 points in the second quarter to take an eight-point lead into halftime, but they loss their lead in the third quarter and saw the game slip from their hands in the final seconds as the Timberwolves’ D’Angelo Russell drained the game-winner with just 2.9 seconds left on the clock. Simons shot just five of 18 from the field while Robert Covington finished with just eight points on three of 11 shooting.
Looking at the betting trends, the Mavericks are 4-1 ATS in their last five games playing on zero days’ rest and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record. The Trail Blazers are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games, 4-10-1 ATS in their last 15 games against a team with a winning record and 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall.
Head to head, the over is 8-1 in the last nine meetings overall, the Mavericks are 23-10 ATS in the last 33 meetings overall and the Mavericks are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Portland.
The Mavericks are going to be shorthanded in this one after losing Tim Hardaway Jr. last night to injury and they will be eager to bounce back after such a poor performance last night. The Trail Blazers are coming into this one with plenty of momentum as they were on a nice run before coming up painfully short to the Timberwolves last night. The Mavericks were right in the contest against the Warriors last night until they lost Hardaway Jr, but I can’t imagine they won’t come out firing after getting embarrassed last night. The Trail Blazers are capable of an upset in this one as they’ve been pretty good since Damian Lillard went down, but Doncic looked to be in good touch last night and the Mavericks are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings in Portland.
