The New Orleans Pelicans and the Portland Trail Blazers do battle at the Moda Center on Monday night.

The New Orleans Pelicans have sprung to life with five wins in their last seven games overall and they will be eager to build on their current four-game win streak after taking apart the Clippers in a 131-110 road win on Saturday. Brandon Ingram steered the offense with 32 points and 13 assists, Trey Murphy added 32 points on 11 of 14 shooting, CJ McCollum scored 21 points with eight rebounds and eight assists while Jonas Valanciunas tallied 17 points with 13 rebounds. As a team, the Pelicans shot 53 percent from the field and a sizzling 21 of 34 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 37 points in the first quarter, and they scored at least 31 points in each quarter to blow past the Clippers with ease.

Meanwhile, the Portland Trail Blazers have been in a real slump as they’ve lost eight of their last nine games overall and they will be aiming for a third straight victory after taking down the Thunder in a 118-112 loss last night. Shaedon Sharpe led the team with 29 points on nine of 13 shooting, Nassir Little added 28 points off the bench while Keon Johnson chipped in with 14 points and five assists off the bench. As a team, the Trail Blazers shot 47 percent from the field and 14 of 32 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 37 points in the first quarter to take a 12-point lead, before they allowed the Thunder to explode for 43 points in the second quarter to reclaim control. Things tightened up in the second half, but the Trail Blazers scored just 18 points in the fourth quarter to allow the Thunder off the hook in the end.

Looking at the betting trends, the Pelicans are 8-18 ATS in their last 26 road games and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. The Trail Blazers are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games, 4-1 ATS in their last five games against a team with a losing record and 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall.

Head to head, the under is 6-1 in the last seven meetings overall and the Pelicans are 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall.

The Pelicans are shorthanded again as Zion Williamson and Jose Alvarado are both out, while the Trail Blazers are still missing Jerami Grant, Anfernee Simons and they are keeping an eye on Damian Lillard who is day to day. The Pelicans have been on fire lately and it’s no surprise that they’ve opened as heavy road favorites as the struggling Trail Blazers will struggle again, especially if Lillard doesn’t suit up. The Pelicans are 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings overall and I’m backing them to build on that trend in this spot.
