The Sacramento Kings play host to the Charlotte Hornets at the Golden 1 Center on Sunday night.
The Charlotte Hornets have been in decent shape as they’ve won eight of their past 14 games, but they will be hoping to bounce back here after getting stopped in their tracks by the Warriors in a 130-121 road loss on Friday. Malik Monk led the team with 25 points on nine of 16 shooting off the bench, Terry Rozier added 24 points, LaMelo Ball scored 22 points with six assists while PJ Washington chipped in with 15 points. As a team, the Hornet shot 46 percent from the field and 17 of 41 from the 3-point line, but they didn’t match the intensity of the Warriors early on and quickly found themselves trailing by 15 points at halftime which proved to be too much to overcome.
Meanwhile, the Sacramento Kings have been in terrible form lately, but they will be breathing a major sigh of relief after putting an end to a nine-game skid with a 110-107 road win over the Pistons on Friday. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 27 points and six assists, Harrison Barnes added 21 points with seven assists while Marvin Bagley and Richaun Holmes each scored 19 points. As a team, the Kings shot just 41 percent from the field and seven of 32 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 17-point lead to fall behind by eight points early in the fourth quarter, before escaping with the much-needed win as the Pistons’ Jerami Grant missed the potential game-tying 3-pointer in the final seconds.
Looking at the betting trends, the Hornets are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games against a team with a losing record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games following a loss. The Kings are 0-5 ATS in their last five home games, 1-7-1 ATS in their last nine Sunday games and 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the over is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings overall, the Hornets are 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings overall and the Hornets are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Sacramento.
It’s a little surprising to see the Kings open as favorites in this spot as they were absolutely ice-cold until Friday where they outlasted the Pistons in an unconvincing win. The Hornets are coming into this one off a tough loss to the Warriors, but they’ve been on fire in comparison to the Kings as they’ve won eight of their past 14 games. The Hornets are 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings in Sacramento and the Kings are only 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games overall, so I’m taking the Hornets here.
