The Sacramento Kings invade the AT&T Center to do battle with the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday night.
The Sacramento Kings have been in a slump as they’ve lost five of their last six games overall and they will be hoping to bounce back after getting thrashed by the Pelicans in a 125-95 road loss last night. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 25 points on nine of 18 shooting, Harrison Barnes added 19 points while Domantas Sabonis tallied 15 points with 14 rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Kings shot just 39 percent from the field and eight of 35 from the 3-point line as they kept pace with the Pelicans in the first half, before going completely ice-cold in the second half where they got outscored by 60-34. Davion Mitchell scored just four points on two of nine shooting while Trey Lyles scored just four points on one of five shooting.
Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have been in decent shape as they’ve won five of their last nine games overall and they will be hoping to put an end to a two-game skid after getting routed by the Grizzlies in a 118-105 road loss on Monday. Lonnie Walker led the team with 22 points on nine of 18 shooting off the bench, Dejounte Murray added 21 points with eight assists while Jakob Poeltl chipped in with 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists. As a team, the Spurs shot just 41 percent from the field and nine of 32 from the 3-point line as they got off to a rough start after allowing 42 points in the first quarter and they just had no answer for the Grizzlies’ Ja Morant who scorched them for 52 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Kings are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games as a road underdog and 1-5 ATS in their last six road games against a team with a losing home record. The Spurs are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games, 7-0-1 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a losing record and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games playing on two days’ rest.
Head to head, the over is 5-2 in the last seven meetings overall.
The Kings will again be without Terence Davis and Richaun Holmes, while the Spurs have listed Romeo Langford and Doug McDermott as questionable for this one. It’s hard to make much of an argument for the Kings who are playing this one on zero days’ rest and fresh off a 30-point beating, so I’m sticking with the Spurs to bounce back with a win and cover at home.
