The Detroit Pistons and the San Antonio Spurs collide at the Frost Bank Center on Friday night. Here’s a Spurs vs Pistons Prediction. This article will include a Spurs vs Pistons Pick.

Detroit Pistons Betting Preview

The Detroit Pistons have been in pretty good form as they’ve won six of their last eight games overall and they will be gunning for a fifth straight victory after blowing past the Bulls in a 128-110 road win last Wednesday. Cade Cunningham led the team with 29 points, five rebounds, and seven assists, Tobias Harris and Ausar Thompson each scored 19 points while Jalen Duren chipped in with 16 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists. As a team, the Pistons shot 51 percent from the field and 10 of 25 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 66 points in the first half to jump out in front before they put a lid on the Bulls in the second half to pull away and make it a blowout. The Pistons did a particularly good job of containing the Bulls’ Coby White to just two of 14 shooting from the field which kept the Bulls at bay the entire game.

San Antonio Spurs Betting Preview

Meanwhile, the San Antonio Spurs have been in decent form as they’ve split their last six games and they will be eager to build some momentum after taking down the Suns in a 120-109 home win last night. De’Aaron Fox led the team with 26 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists, Julian Champagnie and Keldon Johnson each scored 15 points while Chris Paul chipped in with 13 points, five rebounds, and 10 assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 47 percent from the field and 15 of 41 from the 3-point line as they played solid defense to keep the Suns to just 21 points in the first quarter before they caught fire and poured in 34 points in the third quarter to lead by as many as 16 points despite playing without Victor Wembenyama who is set to miss the rest of the season with a blood clot in his shoulder. The Spurs will meet the Pels (b2b set) and Rockets after this one.

Why the San Antonio Spurs will win

  • The Spurs have won each of their last four games as home underdogs following a road loss.
  • The Suns have lost five of their last six games as favorites against Southwest Division opponents.
  • The Suns have failed to cover the spread in eight of their last nine night games against Southwest Division opponents that held a losing record.
  • The home team has covered the spread in seven of the Spurs’ last eight games.

Why the Phoenix Suns will win

  • The Spurs have lost each of their last seven home games against Pacific Division opponents that held a losing record.
  • The Suns have won eight of their last nine road games against Spurs teams that held a losing record.
  • The Spurs have failed to cover the spread in each of their last six games as home underdogs against Western Conference opponents.
  • The Suns have covered the spread in each of their last four road games against the Spurs following a loss.

Matchup/League Facts

  • The Spurs rank 1st in the league for blocks per game this season (6.5).
  • The Spurs rank 1st in the league for opponent free throws made per game this season (14.1).
  • The Suns rank 30th in the league for opponent offensive rebounds per game this season (12.4).
  • The Suns rank 30th for points in the paint (2262) this season.

Spurs vs Pistons Prediction

The Pistons are still shorthanded with Jaden Ivey still out, while the Spurs are still missing Charles Bassey along with Wembenyama. The Pistons come into this meeting as the team in better shape, they have almost all their entire team available and they have the advantage of extra rest as they haven’t played since last Wednesday. The Spurs would’ve gained plenty of confidence from last night’s win over the Suns, but I just don’t feel like we’re getting enough points from the bookies with the Spurs playing this one on zero days rest. With that being said, I am leaning towards the Pistons to come away with the narrow win and cover on the road in this spot.
