The Phoenix Suns and the Utah Jazz collide once again at the Vivint Arena on Wednesday night.
The Phoenix Suns have been on a tear as they’ve won 10 of their past 11 games overall and they will be gunning for an eighth straight victory after taking down the Jazz in a 115-109 home win on Monday. Devin Booker led the team with 33 points, seven rebounds and three assists, Chris Paul added 27 points with nine rebounds and 14 assists while Cameron Johnson chipped in with 20 points, six rebounds and three assists. As a team, the Suns shot 47 percent from the field and 13 of 36 from the 3-point line as they squandered an early 13-point lead to fall behind midway through the fourth quarter, but they regrouped and used a decisive 16-4 run to flip the game on its head and escape with the impressive win.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in terrible shape as they’ve lost eight of their past 10 games overall and they will be hoping to snap a two-game skid after Monday’s loss to the Suns. Jordan Clarkson led the team with 22 points and five assists in a rare start, Trent Forrest added 17 points while Danuel House Jr and Eric Paschall each scored 14 points. As a team, the Jazz shot 49 percent from the field and 14 of 31 from the 3-point line as they looked to be in control after rallying back from a 13-point deficit to lead in the third quarter, before allowing the Suns to pull away in the fourth quarter where they managed just 22 points.
Looking at the betting trends, the Suns are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games, 1-7 ATS in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 1-4 ATS in their last five games against a team above .600. The Jazz are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 home games, 5-15-1 ATS in their last 21 games against a team with a winning record and 2-7-1 ATS in their last 10 games overall.
Head to head, the under is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Utah and the Suns are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall.
The Suns are going to be severely shorthanded in this one as JaVale McGee, DeAndre Ayton, Jae Crowder, Cameron Payne, Abdel Nader and Dario Saric are all out, while the Jazz will be missing Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert. Despite all the injuries listed above, the Suns are still favorites in this one as they’ve been one of the hottest teams in the league, while the Jazz have been mired in their worst slump of the season. I want to take the Jazz to get their revenge, but they are only 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 home games, so I’m sticking with the shorthanded Suns to escape with the narrow win and cover in this spot.
