The San Antonio Spurs and the Utah Jazz collide at the Vivint Arena on Friday night in NBA action.
The San Antonio Spurs have been in a rut as they’ve lost four of their past six games and they will be hoping for a better performance in this one after getting thrashed by the Hornets in a 131-115 home loss on Wednesday. Bryn Forbes led the team in scoring with 25 points off the bench, Keldon Johnson added 21 points on nine of 16 shooting while Derrick White chipped in with 18 points, six rebounds and seven assists. As a team, the Spurs shot 43 percent from the field and 12 of 37 from the 3-point line, but they didn’t match the Hornets early on and were always trailing after allowing 46 points in the first quarter to trail by double-digits early, before allowing another 37 points in the third quarter to fall behind by 30 points. There was just no stopping the Hornets’ Gordon Hayward who torched them for 41 points on 15 of 19 shooting.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz have been in terrific shape as they’ve won 12 of their past 14 games and they will be eager to build on their current eight-game win streak after blowing past the Clippers in a 124-103 home win on Wednesday. Donovan Mitchell led the team in scoring with 27 points on 10 of 15 shooting, Jordan Clarkson added 21 points off the bench while Bojan Bogdanovic and Rudy Gobert each scored 20 points. As a team, the Jazz shot 52 percent from the field and 15 of 37 from the 3-point line as they set the tone with 35 points in the first quarter to take the early lead which only grew as the game wore on.
Looking at the betting trends, the Spurs are 5-1 ATS in their last six games against a team with a winning record and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The Jazz are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games against a team with a losing record and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.
Head to head, the over is 13-5 in the last 18 meetings overall, the Spurs are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall and the Spurs are 1-5 ATS in the last six meetings in Utah.
The Spurs haven’t been at their best lately as they’ve lost four of six, their confidence took a major hit after getting blown out by the Hornets at home on Wednesday and they could be without Lonnie Walker who is questionable for this one. In contrast, the Jazz have been on fire lately as they’re riding an eight-game win streak and their last four wins have been double-digit blowouts. The Spurs are 0-5 ATS in the last five meetings overall and I think that trend continues here as the Jazz should be too good at home.
