New York Jets at Buffalo Bills - Game Day NFL Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The New York Jets and Buffalo Bills will face off in an opening week AFC East showdown at the Ralph Wilson Stadium in Buffalo. Last season the visiting team was able to win each of the games.

Last season was supposed to be the season that the New York Jets took the next step forward but that didn’t happen as they struggled in the first year under Adam Gase. The big problem for the ets last season was their struggles out of the gate losing seven inf their first eight games. This offense still has Sam Darnold, but to take a step forward the offensive line needs to improve. They also need to find a way to replace Robby Anderson who was the best wide receiver last year for the team. On defense the team traded away Jamal Adams and Leonard Williams and in terms of talent, they didn’t improve on that side of the ball.

For the Bills there is a lot of expectations on this team, especially with Tom Brady no longer in the division. On offense under center they have Josh Allen and they also traded for Stefon Diggs and he gives the team a true number one wideout. The team also drafted Zack Moss who can be a game changer out of the backfield, but it’s unclear what type of role he is going to have early with the team. On defense is where the Bills will lean again and last season when they had success against the Jets, their defensive line caused havoc in the backfield. In this game they need the defense to get Darnold early and thitem him off his game.

The Jets are 4-9-1 against the spread in their last 14 games against the AFC. The under is 16-5 in the Bills last 21 games played in Week 1. The Bills are 5-1-2 against the spread in their last eight games against the AFC East. The underdog is 8-2 against the spread in the last ten meetings between the Jets and Bills.

The Bills are the better team, but I’m not so sold that they are this much better than the Jets. Darnold is going to take a big step forward this year and he will keep the Jets in this game. Back the Jets to cover the spread.
