ATS Picks: Atlanta Falcons vs Carolina Panthers NFL Picks, Odds, Predictions 10/11/20

The Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons meet Sunday in Week 5 NFL action from Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

The Panthers are 2-2 on the 2020 NFL season so far. Carolina lost their first two games versus the Raiders and Buccaneers, but since have rebounded to record wins over the Chargers and Cardinals. As for the Falcons, they’re 0-4 this season, suffering defeats courtesy of the Seahawks, Cowboys and Bears in their first three games. In the Monday outing versus the Packers, the Falcons’ futility continued in a 30-16 loss. Check back all season long for free NFL picks and NFL predictions at Sports Chat Place.

The Panthers stumbled out of the gate this season, but really they’ve only had one bad game so far. The Week 1 opener versus the Raiders was a relatively tame four-point loss, and the Tampa Bay game got out of hand quickly. Since then it’s been a couple of pretty good showings for Carolina, with a 21-16 win over the Chargers and a 31-21 win over the Cardinals.

In the win over Arizona, Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater put up 276 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Mike Davis led the rush with 84 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries, while Robby Anderson had a nice game receiving with eight catches for 99 yards.

Over on the Falcons’ side, they’ve had some pretty mind-boggling outings this season, and plenty of futility. Atlanta fell by 13 to the Seahawks in the opener, then blew a huge lead versus the Cowboys for a one-point loss. The Falcons repeated that feat the next week versus the Bears in a 30-26 defeat, and on Monday Atlanta was never really in a 30-16 loss.

In the Monday game, Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan threw for 285 yards on 28-of-39 passing and was sacked four times for 36 yards. Todd Gurley led the Falcons rush with 57 yards and two touchdowns, and Olamide Zaccheaus was tops in receiving with 86 yards on eight catches.

The Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last six games in October and 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games. Carolina is also 1-4-1 ATS in their last six versus the NFC and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine games overall.

Meanwhile, the Falcons are 6-2 ATS in their last eight versus the NFC and 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. Atlanta is 1-5 ATS in their last six games in Week 5 and 2-11 ATS in their last 13 games in October.

PICK: I have to stick with the Panthers here. Atlanta has showcased some nice offensive capabilities thus far, and the general thinking is that the Falcons will break out against Carolina. The Panthers have been able to adjust pretty well this season depending on their opponents however, and I think they’ll have a solid game plan going into this matchup. Should be a pretty interesting game, and I like Carolina to dictate the pace.
