The Detroit Lions come into this game fresh off of their bye week, posted up at 1-3 after a 35-29 loss to the New Orleans Saints in their last game. Matthew Stafford has thitemn for 1,017 yards, 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions on 60.6% passing while Adrian Peterson leads the Lions on the ground with 245 rushing yards and a touchdown. T.J. Hockenson leads the Lions in receiving with 15 catches on 20 targets for 180 yards and 2 touchdowns. Danny Amendola has 177 receiving yards while Marvin Jones Jr., D’Andre Swift and Kenny Golladay each have 100+ receiving yards while Golladay has a pair of receiving touchdowns. Tracy Walker leads Detroit’s defense with 29 total tackles, including a team-high 23 solo tackles and Romeo Okwara has a pair of sacks for the Lions.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will try to rebound from a 1-4 start to the year after a 4th straight defeat in the form of a 30-14 loss to the Texans in their last game. Gardner Minshew II has thitemn for 1,439 yards, 10 touchdowns and 4 interceptions on 69.9% passing while James Robinson has 333 rushing yards and 3 touchdowns. Laviska Shenault Jr. has a team-high 23 grabs for 270 yards while DJ Chark Jr. and Keelan Cole Sr. each have 200+ receiving yards and 3 touchdown receptions for Jacksonville. Chris Conley, the aforementioned Robinson and James O’Shaughnessy each have 100+ receiving yards for the Jags this season. Defensively, Josh Jones leads the Jaguars with 38 total tackles and 25 solo tackles while Myles Jack and Joe Schobert each have 37 total tackles with 23 solo tackles. Josh Allen also has a pair of sacks to lead the Jaguars this year.
Detroit is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 road games and 3-12 ATS in their last 15 games overall while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games against a team with a losing record. I would normally be tempted by a home dog, but the Jaguars just can’t put a complete game together right now, and Jacksonville’s had issues keeping points off of the board on the other end, as they’ve allowed 30 or more points in each of the four games during this losing streak. The Lions may only be 1-3, but they almost hung 30 on the Saints who have a pretty good defense in their own right, and have an offense that can score in bunches when it’s clicking. It seems like everyone is on the Lions, which can seem a bit scary, but I’m not backing the Jaguars right now in their current form. I’ll lay the points with Detroit here by default.
