The Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions meet Friday afternoon in a Madden20 NFL simulation game.
The Minnesota Vikings are one of those teams that’s absolutely loaded on the offensive side of the ball with wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen, as well as running back Darlin Cook all ranked 90 overall or better. The Vikings defense isn’t too shabby either with safety Harrision Smith being the teams highest rated player at 95 overall while Everyone Griffen and Danielle Hunter being two speed rushers ranked in the high 80s. Quarterback Kirk Cousins is also somebody you can win with, as he has a decent rating of 82 overall and a 82 acceleration rating to do a good job of moving the pocket. The Minnesota Vikings can’t seem to make this team work in real life, but they have a lot of fun weapons to use in the video game and should have a lot of success as well as flashy plays on both sides of the ball.
The Detroit Lions don’t have a single player ranked in the 90s, but their top three ranked players are on the defensive side of the ball in Damon Harrison, Darius Slay and Trey Flowers. The Lions then have two respectable receivers ranked in the mid 80s in Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones, while quarterback Matthew Stafford is ranked 82 overall with a 78 acceleration rating. The Lions have a more than respectable defense in this game and a decent trio of wide receivers when you thitem in Danny Amendola, but there’s something about this squad that doesn’t move the needle all that much. Maybe it’s the lack of top tier talent or a quarterback that’s pretty much been the same level his whole career, but the Lions aren’t a team people are running to play with in Madden20.
The Minnesota Vikings are a very intriguing team in these simulations with elite weapons on the offensive side of the ball and a defensive front that pressures the quarterback well. The Detroit Lions aren’t nearly as loaded with high level players, but they have a decent secondary and their group of wide receivers is easily one of the most underrated in this game. I’m always hyping up these Vikings in these simulations and they’ve been kind to us in the past, but a full touchdown makes me lean toward the Lions in this spot.
I’ll take a chance with the Detroit Lions and the points.
