The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles meet Sunday, February 12 in NFL Super Bowl action from University of Phoenix Stadium. Kansas City is 16-3 on the season after a close win over the Bengals in the AFC Championship. As for Philadelphia, they’re 16-3 overall as well and coming off an NFC Championship win over San Francisco. Check back all season long for free NFL picks at Sports Chat Place.

Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs managed to go 14-3 in the regular season, landing in the top spot of the AFC West. Kansas City was also the number-one team in the conference and got a first-round playoff bye. In the Divisional Round, the Chiefs powered out a 27-20 victory versus the Jaguars. Kansas City followed that up with a close win over the Bengals in the Conference Championship.

In the AFC Championship Game versus the Bengals, the Chiefs were up 13-6 at the break. Kansas City was able to hang on for the 23-20 win despite getting outscored 14-10 in the second half. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 326 yards and two touchdowns, while Marquez Valdes-Scantling caught six balls for 116 yards and one score.

Philadelphia Eagles

Over on the Eagles’ side, they posted a 14-3 run during the regular season. That mark left Philadelphia in first place in the NFC East and earned a first-round bye in the playoffs. The Eagles took out the Giants 38-7 in the Divisional Round game, then beat the 49ers in the next round to earn a spot in the Super Bowl.

Matched up against San Francisco in the Conference Championship game, the Eagles jumped out to a 21-7 halftime lead. Philadelphia outscored the 49ers 10-0 the rest of the way for a 31-7 victory. QB Jalen Hurts put up 121 yards and rushed for a touchdown. Miles Sanders had 42 running yards and two scores as well.

The Chiefs are 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall and 3-11-1 ATS in their last 15 after a straight-up win. Kansas City is 1-5 ATS versus a team with a winning record.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 7-2 ATS in their last nine playoff games and 7-2 ATS versus a team with a winning record. Philadelphia is 5-2 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up win.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to stay with Philadelphia. The Eagles played a pretty brilliant defense-heavy, clock-control game against the 49ers in the Conference Championship, posting 37:26 in time of possession, zero turnovers, one sack allowed and 25 first downs. San Francisco’s three lost fumbles and 11 penalties helped matters even further. That makes a nice 69 combined points for Philadelphia over the two playoff games. The Eagles offense is humming along nicely these days, and I think they’ll continue in the Super Bowl.

As for Kansas City, they pulled off a gritty Conference Championship win over the Bengals. The Chiefs totaled 357 yards (315 passing) with 23 first downs in that one. The Chiefs have been playing some close games all season and to their credit KC has emerged triumphant in most of it. I like the Chiefs to make this one extra competitive, but I’m leaning Eagles cover/win-wise. Should be a great game.

Andrew's Free Pick: Philadelphia Eagles -1.5
