New York Giants

The Giants got off to a terrible start this year, falling in a blowout 40-0 to the Cowboys during the opener. New York was able to bounce back with a tense 31-28 win over the Cardinals in the next week, but then fell 30-12 to the 49ers in game three. New York’s losing ways continued against the Seahawks with a 24-3 result.

In Week 5 versus the Dolphins, New York faced a 31-13 deficit by the fourth quarter and ended up limping to a 31-16 loss. QB Daniel Jones finished with 119 yards on 14-of-20 passing. Darren Waller added eight catches for 86 yards, and Eric Gray managed 25 yards off 12 carries to pace the run game.

New York Giants Team Facts

  • The Giants have won three of their last four games as underdogs against AFC opponents.
  • The Giants have failed to cover the spread in each of their last six games.
  • The Giants have lost the first quarter in eight of their last nine Sunday games.
  • The Giants have lost the first half in 13 of their last 14 games as underdogs against AFC opponents.
  • Fourteen of the Giants’ last 16 games played as underdogs on the East Coast have gone UNDER the total points line.

Buffalo Bills

Over on the Buffalo side, they’ve had some ups and downs already over this young season. The Bills fell in an overtime stunner to the Aaron Rodgers-less Jets 22-16 in the opener, but then got back on track with three straight wins. Those came 38-10 over the Raiders, 37-3 against the Commanders and 48-20 versus the Dolphins.

Buffalo fell back into the loss column on Sunday versus the Jaguars in London. The Bills posted 13 points in the fourth quarter during a comeback bid but eventually lost 25-20. QB Josh Allen put up 359 yards with two scores and a pick while leading the rush with just 14 yards and a TD. Stefon Diggs put up eight catches for 121 yards and a score as well.

Buffalo Bills Team Facts

  • The Bills have won each of their last 10 games against teams that held a losing record.
  • The Bills have covered the spread in each of their last four games against NFC East opponents.
  • The Bills have won the first quarter in seven of their last eight home games against NFC opponents.
  • The Bills have won the first half in seven of their last eight home games against NFC opponents.
  • The Bills have scored the first touchdown in eight of their last nine home games against NFC opponents.

Matchup/League Facts

  • The Bills rank 1st in the NFL in sacks this season (21.0).
  • The Bills rank T1st in the NFL in interceptions this season (8).
  • The Giants rank 32nd in the NFL in yards per game this season (255.2).

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ve got to stay with the Bills here. Buffalo really needs a bounce-back effort to get themselves on track, and lucky for them they’re facing a struggling team here. In the loss to the Jaguars last weekend, Buffalo had just 29 rushing yards total while racking up 11 penalties for 109 yards, two turnovers and a tepid 5-of-12 rate on third-down conversions. Defensively the team wasn’t great either, giving up 474 total yards (196 rushing), 29 first downs and 10-of-18 on third downs. Needless to say, there’s plenty of room for improvement.

As for the Giants, they gave up a whopping 524 yards (222 rushing) against the Dolphins, despite bagging three takeaways in the loss. New York’s offense was pretty dismal as well on 268 total yards (183 passing) and a 5-of-17 result on third-down tries. The Giants have given up 24 or more points in all five games so far and I don’t see that trend stopping against the Bills.
