The Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots square off in a week 9 NFL contest from Bank of America Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The New England Patriots come into this game looking to build on their 27-24 win over the Chargers in their last matchup. Mac Jones has thrown for 1,997 yards, 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions on 68.1% passing while Damien Harris leads the Patriots in rushing with 517 rushing yards and 6 scores. Jakobi Meyers leads New England’s receivers with 45 catches for 427 yards while Kendrick Bourne and Nelson Agholor each have 300+ receiving yards and 2 touchdowns apiece this season. Hunter Henry has 297 receiving yards and 4 TDs and Jonnu Smith and Brandon Bolden each have 150+ receiving yards on the year. On defense, Kyle Dugger leads the Pats with 54 total tackles while Matthew Judon has a team-high 8 sacks and Adrian Phillips and J.C. Jackson each have 3 interceptions this season.

The Carolina Panthers will look to build off of a 19-13 road win over Atlanta last time out. Sam Darnold has thrown for 1,814 yards, 7 touchdowns and 8 interceptions on 60.8% passing while Chuba Hubbard leads the Panthers with 391 rushing yards this season. DJ Moore leads the Panthers in receiving with 50 grabs for 645 yards while Robby Anderson has 204 receiving yards while another five receivers have 100+ receiving yards this season. On defense, Jeremy Chinn leads the Panthers with 43 total tackles while Haason Reddick has a team-high 7.5 sacks and Brian Burns has 4.5 sacks this season. Shaq Thompson also has a pair of interceptions for Carolina’s defense.

New England is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games as a favorite and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a win while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. Carolina is 10-4 ATS in their last 14 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 home games.

I get why a home dog is worth a look in most instances, but realistically, I’m not siding with the Panthers as their win over the Falcons last week continued a trend, that the Panthers beat teams that aren’t good. Sure, Atlanta has three wins, but they’ve come against the Giants, Jets and Dolphins. New England is coming off of back-to-back wins and have gone 3-0 on the road this season. Give me New England here and lay the points.
