The Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers square off Sunday afternoon in week 12 NFL action from Empower Field at Mile High. Los Angeles is 2-1 in their last three games and posted a big win over the Steelers in their last outing. As for Denver, they’re 2-1 in their last three as well and coming off a bye week. Los Angeles began the year on a nice 4-1 run with a lone three-point loss to the Cowboys as the only blemish. Since then the Chargers are 2-3, falling to the Ravens, Patriots and Vikings while otherwise beating the Eagles and Steelers.

In last weekend’s matchup against the Steelers, Los Angeles gave up 27 points in the final quarter after going in up 27-10. The Chargers hung on for a 41-37 win. QB Justin Herbert finished on 382 yards and three scores, also leading the rush with 90 yards.

Over on the Denver side, they opened the season with a nice three-game win streak but hit the skids after that. The Broncos lost to the Ravens, Steelers, Raiders and Browns before beating Washington and Dallas. After that was a loss to the Eagles and a bye week.

Back on November 14 against Philadelphia, Denver was down 20-10 heading into halftime. The Broncos could only find three points from there in a 30-13 defeat. QB Teddy Bridgewater put up 226 yards passing and Albert Okwuegbunam topped the receivers on 77 yards from three grabs.

The Chargers are 5-0 ATS in their last five versus the AFC West and 4-1 ATS in their last five in Week 12. LA is 33-16-3 ATS in the last 52 road games.
Meanwhile, the Broncos are 1-4 ATS in their last five in Week 12 and 2-5 ATS in the last seven overall. Denver is 0-4 ATS in their last four versus the AFC.

PICK: I’m going to try the Chargers. LA had a dominant first three quarters against the Steelers, but ran into a bit of trouble in the fourth. Overall, the Chargers posted 533 total yards with 7.7 yards per play and 33 first downs. Los Angeles did commit 12 of 20 overall penalties in a chippy game, however.

As for the Broncos, they’ve had an extra week to prep for this one and should come out with a little more fire in their offense. Finding first downs will be a concern; Denver went just 1-of-13 on third- and fourth-down tries against the Eagles. I like a better game from them here but not enough to cover.
