The Denver Broncos host the Washington Football Team on Sunday in week 8 NFL action from Empower Field at Mile High. Denver is coming off a bye week. The Broncos last played in a three-point loss to Cleveland. As for the Team, they lost by 14 to the Packers in their last outing. Check back all season long for free NFL picks at Sports Chat Place.

Washington went 2-2 over their first four games this year, beating the Giants and Falcons while otherwise losing to the Chargers and Bills. Since then it’s been three straight losses to the Saints 33-22, the Chiefs 31-13 and the Packers 24-10 for Washington.

In the loss to the Packers last weekend, the Team had a 7-7 tie game going into the second quarter but couldn’t get into the end zone afterward. QB Taylor Heinicke had 268 yards with one TD and one pick, while also leading the rush with 95 yards on 10 carries.

Over on the Denver side, they stormed out of the gate this year with three straight wins, beating the Giants, Jaguars and Jets. Since then it’s been four straight losses to the Ravens, Steelers, Raiders and Browns, however.

In the 17-14 loss to Cleveland back on October 21, the Broncos had a 10-0 deficit at halftime and never recovered. QB Teddy Bridgewater put up 187 yards with two scores and a pick. Courtland Sutton added 68 yards off of five receptions.

The Team are 4-1 ATS in their last five in Week 8 and 1-4 ATS versus a team with a losing record. Washington is 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall as well.

Meanwhile, the Broncos are 8-1 ATS in their last nine in Week 8 and 10-4 ATS versus a team with a losing record. Denver is also 0-4 ATS in their last four games overall.

PICK: I’m probably sticking with Denver here. The Broncos were quite tepid offensively in their last outing, posting just 223 total yards, 41 rush yards, 4.6 yards per play and 15 first downs. Things likely would have been worse if not for the Browns’ nine penalties. Hopefully the bye week did Denver some good.

As for the Team, they looked good statistically in the loss to the Packers with 430 total yards, 195 rush yards, 6.1 yards per play and 25 first downs. Washington was up against a pretty darn efficient Green Bay team that didn’t make too many mistakes, though. I like the Team to score a little better here in an eventual Denver cover.
