Atlanta started the season with a 3-2 record, but they lost seven of their next eight games, before winning four straight to end the year. The Falcons played much better in the second half of the season, but they did allow 24+ points in eight of their last eleven games. Atlanta scored 20.8 points per game in 2025, while they allowed 23.6 points against per game on defense.
Last season, Atlanta went 0-3 in the preseason, which was tied for third in the NFC South. Only one team in the NFC South won a preseason game last year, which was was the Bucs. The Falcons lost to the Lions 17-10, lost to the Titans 23-20, and lost to the Cowboys 31-13 in their three preseason games. Atlanta is expected to play their starters for a series or two, so we will see Tua under center. Once the backups come in, we should see Cooper Rush and Jack Strand get the majority of the snaps.

The Broncos only lost to the Colts, Chargers, and Jaguars in the regular season, but they scored 20 points or fewer in five of their last nine games. Denver defeated the Bills in overtime by a score of 33-30 in the playoffs, but lost to the Patriots 10-7. The Broncos scored 23.6 points per game in 2025, while they allowed 18.3 points against per game on defense.
Last year, Denver went 3-0 in the preseason, which was first in the AFC West. The Broncos were one of just four teams to have a perfect preseason. Denver defeated the 49ers 30-9, defeated the Cardinals 27-7, and defeated the Saints 28-19 in their three preseason games. The Broncos are expected to play their starters for about 15 snaps, but Bo Nix will not play. Jarrett Stidham will play the first half at quarterback, while Sam Ehlinger will play the second half.

Denver comes into this matchup as the favorite to get the win, as they have the better quarterback situation. The Broncos have a competition for the backup QB role, so every snap matters for Stidham and Ehlinger. Atlanta will showcase Tua for a few plays, but Cooper Rush and Jack Strand don’t do much for me.
