The Minnesota Vikings and Kansas City Chiefs meet Friday in week 3 NFL preseason action at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. The Minnesota Vikings are still looking for their first preseason win after an 0-2 start. The Kansas City Chiefs look for another win to finish the preseason with a 3-0 record.

The Minnesota Vikings are coming off losses to the Broncos and Colts. In the losing effort, the Vikings produced 227 total yards and allowed 288 total yards. Jake Browning led Minnesota with 82 passing yards while Kellen Mond and Kirk Cousins combined for 84 passing yards. Ameer Abdullah led the Vikings with 35 rushing yards on six carries while Chad Beebe and KJ Osborn combined for 74 receiving yards on four catches. Defensively, Chazz Surratt led the Vikings with 10 tackles, Blake Lynch had one tackle for loss and Troy Dye had one interception. The Vikings have scored a combined 16 points in their first two games, which isn’t a great sign. Obviously preseason doesn’t mean a whole lot, but you’d like to see a better effort from the Vikings.

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming off wins over the 49ers and Cardinals. In the victory, the Chiefs produced 458 total yards and allowed 239 total yards. Shane Buechele led Kansas City with 115 passing yards, one interception and one touchdown while Chad Henne and Patrick Mahomes combined for 160 passing yards, one interception and one touchdown. Derrick Gore led the Chiefs with 54 rushing yards on eight carries while Byron Pringle and Daurice Fountain combined for 117 receiving yards on seven catches. Defensively, DeAndre Baker led the Chiefs with four tackles, Chris Jones had one sack and Juan Thornhill had one interception. The Chiefs defense has stood tall through two games, which is scary given we know what their offense is going to do. Of course, winning also helps the Chiefs, who are currently the betting favorite to win the Super Bowl.

The Vikings are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Chiefs are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The over is 8-3 in Vikings last 11 games overall. The home team is 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings. The underdog is 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings.

The Vikings have shown us nothing on the offensive side to convince us they can go on the road and beat a deep Chiefs team on the road. The Chiefs are winning games despite not playing their starters a ton, so this should be nothing new. The Chiefs defense has been the difference this preseason and Buechele has played well with expanded reps. I’ll lay the chalk with the Chiefs at home.
