The Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs meet Sunday in NFL action from Arrowhead Stadium. Here’s a Chiefs vs Eagles prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Chiefs vs Eagles pick.
Philadelphia Eagles Betting Preview
The Eagles had a pretty good showing overall in the preseason, going 2-1 despite a couple of tepid efforts scoring-wise. Philly opened things up with a 34-27 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, but then took their first exhibition defeat with a 22-13 outcome against the Cleveland Browns. Game three was another victory however as Philadelphia powered out a 19-17 road win over the New York Jets. In that one Philly’s Kyle McCord threw for 136 yards and a pick on 15-of-35 passing. Montrell Johnson led the rush with 15 carries for 57 yards and a touchdown, while Terrace Marshall topped the receivers on five catches for 51 yards.
In their season-opening matchup versus the rival Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, Philadelphia had a battle on their hands following a 21-20 advantage in the first half. The Eagles could only muster a field goal in the second, but that was enough in a 24-20 victory. Quarterback Jalen Hurts was 19-of-23 for 152 yards and also led the rushing attack with 14 carries for 62 yards and two touchdowns. Saquon Barkley carried 18 times for 60 yards and a score of his own, and Jahan Dotson was the top receiver with three catches for 59 yards.
Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview
Over on the Chiefs’ side, they went 0-3 during the preseason and gave up quite a bit scoring-wise along the way. Kansas City hasn’t won a game since the Conference Championships against Buffalo back on January 26, but we’ll get to that in a minute. In exhibition play the Chiefs lost to the Cardinals 20-17, the Seahawks 33-16 and the Bears 29-27 this year. In the matchup with Chicago, Kansas City was up 20-10 at the break and 27-10 by the end of the third quarter. After a 19-0 run from there however, the Chiefs had a preseason loss. QB Patrick Mahomes was 8-of-13 for 143 yards and a score in that one, and Tyquan Thornton’s 58-yard catch put him atop the receivers for the day.
In their Week 1 matchup versus the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday, the Chiefs were down 13-6 going into the second half. Kansas City couldn’t make the comeback from there and eventually fell 27-21 by game’s end. Mahomes was 24-of-39 for 258 yards and a touchdown this time, while also leading the rush with 57 yards and a touchdown on six carries. Hollywood Brown was the team’s leading receiver with 10 catches for 99 yards in all. JuJu Smith-Schuster added five catches for 55 yards, and Travis Kelce caught the touchdown.

Chiefs vs Eagles Prediction
I’m staying with Philly. Regardless of the outcome however, this Super Bowl rematch should be a fun one to watch. The Eagles had some major issues in their season-opening win over Dallas, namely nine penalties for 110 yards and just three points in the second half. It was enough to get the win thanks to some opportunistic defense however, and Philadelphia held the ball for 34:52 as opposed to Dallas’ 25:08. Otherwise, the offensive numbers were pretty pedestrian: 302 total yards (144 passing), 4.9 yards per play and 20 first downs. I’d like to see a little more fire in the proverbial belly this weekend.
As for the Chiefs, they need to find a running game in Week 2. Mahomes accounted for 57 of the team’s 98 rushing yards, and KC went just 5-of-14 on third-down tries. The 10 penalties for 71 yards didn’t help matters either. I like a cleaner effort in this one, but I don’t think Kansas City will stay close enough to cover.
