Tampa Bay Buccaneers Betting Preview
The Buccaneers got off to a nice 5-1 start this year, losing to only the Philadelphia Eagles during that time. Tampa Bay otherwise dispatched the Atlanta Falcons, Houston Texans, New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers along the way. A 1-2 run came next with a lone win over the New Orleans Saints in between losses to the Detroit Lions and New England Patriots. In the November 9 loss to New England 28-23, the Bucs scored in every quarter but also gave up points in every quarter. Tampa Bay’s defense surrendered 435 total yards with 7.4 yards per play but only 16 first downs and 5-of-14 on third-down attempts.
On Sunday in their last outing versus the Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay scored points in every quarter, including 17 in the second. Unfortunately the Bucs also gave up points in every quarter along the way to a 44-32 loss. QB Baker Mayfield was 16-of-28 for 173 yards, one TD and one pick while also rushing in a TD. Sean Tucker topped the run with 19 carries for 106 yards and two scores, while Sterling Shepard had four grabs for 54 yards in the defeat.
Los Angeles Rams Betting Preview
Over on the Rams’ side, they went 3-2 over their first five games with losses to the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers among wins over the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans. Wins over the Baltimore Ravens, Jacksonville Jaguars, New Orleans Saints and San Francisco 49ers came next. The Rams took out the Niners 42-26 on November 9, notching 401 total yards, 31 first downs, 6.0 yards per play and 5-of-9 on third downs along the way. Los Angeles played a disciplined game with no penalties in that one.
Matched up against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday, the Rams held a 14-12 edge going into the final quarter. After exchanging touchdowns Los Angeles posted a tight 21-19 victory. QB Matthew Stafford finished with a 15-of-28 line for 130 yards and two scores while Kyren Williams had 91 yards and a score off 12 carries. Rams vs Buccaneers Prediction
I’ll go with the Bucs here, but you could make a case either way. Tampa Bay had a pretty good offensive day versus the Bills over the weekend (minus the two turnovers) but couldn’t keep up on the scoreboard. The Buccaneers finished with 367 total yards, 202 rush yards, 5.4 yards per play, 21 first downs and 9-of-16 on third-down tries. On defense Tampa surrendered 414 yards with 7.8 yards per play, 19 first downs and 6-of-11 on third downs—but did have a trio of takeaways. Tampa Bay has 23 or more points in three straight games now, but they’ve also given up a combined 72 points in their last two outings (both losses).
As for the Rams, they posted just 249 yards, 12 first downs and 2-of-11 on third-down tries in their last outing versus Seattle. Thankfully the defense came through with four interceptions, despite allowing 414 total yards and 26 first downs on the other side. Los Angeles is currently riding a nice five-game winning streak, scoring 34 or more points in three of those. The Rams have given up fewer than 20 points in four of those five as well. This weekend’s game should be a pretty good matchup.
