The Indianapolis Colts and the Miami Dolphins square off Sunday afternoon in a AFC NFL contest from Hard Rock Stadium. Indianapolis is coming off a matchup versus the Titans. The Colts lost that one by nine points. As for the Dolphins, they played the Raiders in their last game. Miami ended up losing in overtime by a field goal to fall to 1-2 on the year. Indianapolis started out their year with a home game versus the Seahawks, ultimately falling 28-16. The Colts got closer in week two in another home game versus the Rams, but still lost that one as well 27-24.
In week three versus the Titans, Indianapolis gave up 11 points in the fourth quarter on the way to a 25-16 defeat that dropped the team to 0-3. QB Carson Wentz put up 194 yards on 19-of-37 passing, and Jonathan Taylor led the rushers with 64 yards on 10 carries.
Over on the Dolphins’ side, they opened up their year with a nice win on the road versus division rival New England 17-16. Miami couldn’t keep it going in their next game however, losing QB Tua Tagovailoa in a 35-0 blowout loss to the Bills.
Miami had a lead on the Raiders for much of week three, but couldn’t keep Vegas down in an eventual 31-28 defeat. QB Jacoby Brissett put up 215 yards on 32-of-49 passing, and Myles Gaskin led the rush on 65 yards. Mike Gesicki added 10 catches for 86 yards as well.
The Colts are 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight as an underdog. Indianapolis is 1-4 ATS in their last five versus the AFC as well.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins are 6-1 ATS in their last seven at home and 5-1 ATS in their last six in October. Miami is 11-4 ATS in their last 15 overall and 13-5 ATS in their last five versus the AFC.
PICK: I’m going to try Miami. The Dolphins got their offense working better in the Raiders game last weekend, posting 330 total yards and 22 first downs. It wasn’t enough to keep up with Vegas’ 497 total yards on the other side, though.
As for Indianapolis, they put up 265 yards against Tennessee and had trouble stopping the Titans in the final quarter. As long as both teams minimize their mistakes here, this should be a pretty well-balanced matchup and a fun game to watch. I think the Dolphins can power out a cover at home, though.
