The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Miami Dolphins meet Saturday in NFL action from Hard Rock Stadium. This will be the final preseason game for both teams. Here’s a Dolphins vs Jaguars prediction. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best Dolphins vs Jaguars pick.

Jacksonville Jaguars Betting Preview

The Jaguars opened up their exhibition schedule with an August 9 matchup versus the Pittsburgh Steelers. The good news for Jacksonville is that they were able to put up points in every quarter; the bad news was that the Jaguars also allowed points in every quarter during a 31-25 loss. Nick Mullens posted 11-of-18 passing for 89 yards and a score, while Seth Henigan went 11-of-14 for 78 yards and Trevor Lawrence had a 6-of-7 line for 43 yards. Bhayshul Tuten (TD) and Tank Bigsby each had six carries for 24 yards rushing. Leading the receivers was Trenton Irwin with four catches for 48 yards and a touchdown. Dorian Singer added three grabs for 40 yards as well.

In their preseason game two matchup versus the Saints this past Sunday, Jacksonville went into the second half with a 17-3 edge. The Jaguars didn’t score from there however, eventually settling for a 17-17 tie. QB Nick Mullens went 14-of-17 for 112 yards and an interception. Trevor Lawrence was 8-of-10 for 76 yards and a touchdown. Leading the rush with a modest 35 yards on 10 carries with a TD was Bhayshul Tuten. Topping the receivers was Hunter long with two catches for 32 yards. Austin Trammell added four catches in the tie ballgame, totaling 27 yards in the end.

Miami Dolphins Betting Preview

Over on the Dolphins’ side, they kicked things off this preseason with a road game versus the Chicago Bears on August 10. Miami went into the break with a 14-10 edge, but eventually had to settle for a 24-24 tie in the end. Quinn Ewers only completed five of his 18 passes for 91 yards, but Zach Wilson fared slightly better on 5-of-9 passing for 96 yards. Ollie Gordon had eight rushes for 33 yards and a score, while Tahj Washington added three receptions for 53 yards. Ollie Gordon chipped in with one 39-yard catch to take second among receivers in yardage.

The Dolphins were able to get into the preseason win column in their Saturday game versus the Detroit Lions. Miami was down by a touchdown at halftime but then went on a 17-3 second-half run for a comeback victory 24-17. Wilson threw for 151 yards and a TD on 15-of-23 passing, and Ewers went 11-of-17 for 116 yards and two scores. Gordon led the rush again with 10 attempts for 50 yards and Theo Wease topped the receiving corps with six grabs for 80 yards and two touchdowns in a nice effort. D’Wayne Eskridge added 53 yards and a TD on his three catches.

Dolphins vs Jaguars Prediction

I’ll probably just stick with the Dolphins here. Miami posted a pretty nice effort overall in their comeback win over the Lions last weekend. The Dolphins ended up with 356 yards (259 passing), 5.8 yards per play, 21 first downs and a nice 7-of-13 result on third-down conversions.

On defense, Miami gave up 274 yards in all (170 passing), 4.3 yards per play and 18 first downs. Where that unit really stood out, however, was the 1-of-12 third-down success rate. Detroit’s 13 penalties for 86 yards didn’t hurt the cause either, but then again, Miami also generated plenty of flags themselves (nine for 60 yards). That makes a combined 48 points scored in two preseason games for the Dolphins (24 in each). If they can hit that threshold in this one as well, Miami should be in great shape.
