The Minnesota Vikings meet the Seattle Seahawks Sunday in Week 3 NFL action from US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Seattle is coming off a tough overtime loss to the Titans, dropping the team to 1-1 on the year. As for the Vikings, they took a rough loss last week as well—by one point versus the Cardinals. Seattle got a victory in their first game of the year, 28-16 over the Colts. Quarterback Russell Wilson had a solid game on 254 yards and four TDs, while Chris Carson rushed for 91 yards on 16 carries. Tyler Lockett added 100 receiving yards and two scores off four catches.
Game two was a different story for the Seahawks, as they ended up falling 33-30 to the Titans in overtime. Wilson notched 343 yards with two scores in that one, and Carson bagged 31 yards and two scores from 13 carries.
Over on the Vikings’ side, they took an overtime loss to the Bengals in week one, falling 27-24. Quarterback Kirk Cousins finished on 351 yards and two scores on 36-of-49 passing. Dalvin Cook was the lead rusher with 20 carries for 61 yards and a TD.
In week two versus the Cardinals, it was another close loss 34-33. Cousins threw for 244 yards and three scores, while Cook rushed for 131 yards off 22 carries. KJ Osborn was the top receiver on 91 yards and a TD from five grabs.
The Seahawks are 5-1 ATS in the last six in September and 9-2 ATS in their last 11 in Week 3. Seattle is 34-15-4 ATS in the last 53 after a straight-up loss as well.
Meanwhile, the Vikings are 5-1 ATS in their last six games in Week 3 and 1-6 ATS in their last seven versus the NFC. Minnesota is 1-8 ATS in their last nine overall and 5-2 ATS in the last seven as an underdog.
PICK: I’m going to take Seattle, but probably staying away. If the line were a little thicker (say, closer to a touchdown) I would like the Vikings. Minnesota has been competitive in their first pair, losing both by a combined four points. The offense has been pretty good so far; the Vikings often just can’t get off the field on defense.
As for Seattle, they’ve had some bumps in the road and some discipline issues (10 penalties for 100 yards in their last game), but the veteran Wilson has been solid and should put up another nice line here. It’ll be close, but I like Seattle on the cover.
