The Tennessee Titans and the Minnesota Vikings meet Saturday in NFL preseason action from US Bank Stadium. The Titans are 0-1 in exhibition play so far following a six-point loss to the Bears last weekend. As for the Vikings, they lost to the Seahawks by 11 points in their first preseason matchup. Tennessee Titans

The Titans got off to a nice start at 7-3 through 10 games last year, but then the bottom fell out. Tennessee went on a rough seven-game losing streak (their worst since 2015) to finish out the year at 7-10 and out of playoff contention. Tennessee still finished second in the AFC South, but injuries and sketchy play down the stretch got the better of them.

Tennessee’s preseason campaign got off to a losing start against the Bears, but there are plenty of positives to take away. The Titans were up 17-14 at the break but didn’t score from there in a 23-17 loss. Quarterback Malik Willis finished with 189 yards and an interception, and Racey McMath led the receivers with three catches for 53 yards.

Minnesota Vikings

Over on the Vikings’ side, they rolled to a 13-4 record in 2022 after starting at 8-1 through nine games. Minnesota managed to clinch the NFC North for the first time since 2009, but their postseason was short. The Vikings were bounced with a 31-24 loss to the Giants during the Wild Card Playoffs.

Minnesota also led at halftime versus the Seahawks during their first preseason game of the year. The Vikings were up 10-7 after two quarters but would only manage a field goal after that in a 24-13 loss. Nick Mullens ended up throwing for 139 yards and a score, while Ty Chandler led the rush on 11 carries for 41 yards.

The Titans are 6-1-1 ATS in their last eight road games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 Saturday games. Tennessee is 1-4-2 ATS in the last seven overall.

Meanwhile the Vikings are 1-5 ATS in the last six overall and 1-5 ATS in the last six Saturday games. Minnesota is 0-4 ATS in their last four on turf.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’m going to take a stab on the Vikings here. Minnesota needs to tighten up the defensive depth in this matchup, though; the Seahawks game didn’t go very well. The Vikings gave up 332 yards in that one (226 passing) to their own 248 (165 passing), only managing one sack and one turnover. Still, it was a pretty clean effort by the offense with just one turnover and a reasonable 29:23 in time of possession. As for the Titans, they’ve got plenty of issues to shore up including four turnovers and 337 yards allowed (237 passing) to the Bears. This one’s probably going to feature a few more downfield strikes from both sides, so it should be a fairly entertaining game to watch.

Mitch Wilson's Free Pick: Minnesota Vikings +2.5
